Where can I sink PI into without using gold? I'm currently a rather small country in the middle of a war and discovered that I had almost 500 PI. I have no gold to speak of; how do I use my PI? I will make Province Investments where itd doesnt yet cost money.

Oh, provincial investments now cost money! I did not know that.

Then, changing laws and stabbing pigs to regain stability it is a good use of PI.

Or changing deities as well.

The whole lot:

Government interactions are nice too

Stab pig. Stab pig so hard. Stability is IMO the best PI sink if you can afford it, closely followed by province investments.
I didnt think about that, I was at 60+ Stability all the time because I won the Olympics like five times in a row. Olympia is my vassal...

Its linear: the first is only PI then +20 Gold per new investment. Afaik it also counts the free investments.
In my latest game I am founding cities in high value goods to have surpluses and try a tall rich trade game. I do not use PI for province investments and only save it for city founding and trade league cities.

Trade city leagues at 50 PI is another good use for PI but it is best at late game as @Greyhand has theorized here:

You could also deify rulers if you have the correct government; it's quite beneficial if they have good stats, and something that I cannot do as often as I'd like because of lack of PI.

Adjust gouvernor-policies, increase stability, change your diplomatical stance according to your situation, fabricate claims, promote political parties, events...
