Summary​

Picking passengers on one stop takes HOURS!

Steps to reproduce​

Just create tam/bus lines on streets in medium density residential buildings. Problem occurred in have used lines (about 15 stops on route, below 10 km). Buses are not overfilled (they are mainly near empty). Buses are not in traffic jam.

Expected Result​

As in real, Bus arrive on stop, passengers exchange quickly and bus depart.

Actual Result​

Bus arrive on stop passengers and.... wait in picking state near one hour or more making a buss jam on platform. Same situation is for trams. No private cars cause that situation. At rush hours I have sometimes even 6 buses from one line waiting on the same stop.

If you think it is the same issue, a vehicle gets stuck at a stop and all the other vehicles are queing behind it, I would upload the save game in this thread, and maybe @ one of the dev, such as co_avanya. So she knows there's a new saved game to take a look at.

Adding another savefile to the pile, zoomed in on the main station (Train line 2, the brown line with 2400+ people waiting has trains regularly stuck for hours there). Pretty much every type of transit (trams, buses, metros, trains) shows this issue when there's too many people waiting to board it at a given stop, and any stopped vehicle clogs up everything behind it. @co_avanya hope this is useful, this issue ends up completely breaking most public transit setups involving larger central hubs in my cities.

Today during playing I also encountered a stuck bus. That was a long time ago I spotted one. Here a screenshot and my save game and player.log.

We need to ensure that everyone is upvoting this topic we need to make this issue impossible to ignore so that it actually gets fixed.

While this is a really old thread, I have still forwarded it for review by the team.
Thank you, hopefully players will continue to post save files in order to help you all resolve the issue. If there is anything the community needs to do to assist in getting this issue resolved let us know so we can provide the best feedback possible. We all want to get this resolved.

Another save file for your testing - for me the main problem is with the metro - max trains on the line and the issue still persists - on the Blue Line in the save game for me.

While this is a really old thread, I have still forwarded it for review by the team.
Can we eventually get some feedback from the team? Or is it going to be "we confirm this is a bug" and then we hear nothing in this thread nor the update notes about this bug for months?

If the simulation and debunching algorithm is too hard to fix, is it at least possible to add a manual "leave station" button for the vehicles? Its not ideal but at least can serve as a micromanage fix to the problem.

The thing I don't understand is why the vehicles are still waiting at the station even when the info panel shows maximum passenger load? Some other players here have suggested that the train is still waiting for some passengers/dogs that have "booked" a place on the train, but has not yet arrived at the train. I think that's the case as well. I routinely see passengers/dogs moving across the platform to enter the vehicle even when the train is shown to be full. The problem gets worse as a station gets more overcrowded.

Shouldn't the public transporation logic to be more "time" based? Aka only stay at the station for x period of time regardless of who has "booked" a seat?

If this is a really old "confirmed bug" thread, why is it still not fixed?

The "time" thing makes me wonder if there's also different clocks running in the game and that's also why we get the ambulance and hearse notifications like "An ____ has been called some time ago but has not arrived."

This time reservation system could fix a lot of issues if it's clarified. Is it based on game clock or real world clock? If something happens to the person the reservation is waiting for (either death or despawn) is that why there is a lockout?

I have a large savegame of 800K people that can be used; I have a number of buses, trams and trains that get stuck (thankfully not all).


Hopefully the devs can also use this as a stress test! It's not a minmaxed city at all, never had Mods on it, and has been run from the very start of the game. It's current to the latest patch.

Taxis are the worst. I have the highest possible tariff for taxis, and still cims loves them...
I have found that when there is a lot of taxi use I try to see where the taxies are going and see if there is sufficient public transit to those destinations from the origin point of the taxi ride. When I have added bus/tram routes to these locations the taxi demand reduces significantly.

I have observed an issue with passenger behavior at bus stations, particularly when there are many passengers waiting (1000+ at one specific station). The passengers do not approach the bus efficiently.
Expected behavior: All waiting passengers should walk towards the bus doors simultaneously until the bus is full.
Observed behavior: Passengers approach the bus in separate groups. Each group only starts walking towards the bus after the previous group has finished boarding. This increases the total boarding time compared to if all passengers approached the bus at once.
I suspect this inefficient boarding process might be caused by processing delays due to the large number of passengers waiting at the station.
This issue noticeably impacts gameplay, especially in high-traffic areas, as it leads to longer wait times and potential traffic congestion around busy bus stops.

Been using the mod and so far it is life changing, by fixing one of the most major bugs the game has had since release I can finally start to reduce the spam that I needed before to try to account for the backups that would occur when things like trams would get stuck waiting forever.
