every time I try to load Europa Universalis: Rome,I get an error message that says I

need pixelshader 2.0 to play the game. I just updated everythig and tried to play

the game and the same error came up can you please help. my system is windows xp.

not vista or 7. thank you.

I've moved you into your own thread as your problem has nothing to do with the topic of the thread you originally posted in.

It looks to me like your video card cannot run this game. The published specifications (also on the box) for video are:
128mb compatible video card & support for pixelshader 2.0
As you can see in your dxdiag above you only have 64mb of video memory; I can't find anything specific about the pixelshader capabilities of that video chipset but judging from the driver it's very old and may not do PS 2.0 either.

Your options are to return the game, or only play it on a machine with a good enough video card/chipset.
 
No, the game works fine under Vista or Win7. But do make sure you install it outside the system path (eg in c:\games\rome\ or whatever) NOT in the suggested default location. And make sure you get the very latest update for the video driver.
