Hi, not sure if this has been posted before.

Downloaded the demo yesterday and gave it a quick spin.

I noticed that planes can fly at top speed at minimum altitude(not possible in real world).
Also does speed/altitude affect the behavior of your missiles ?

In normal world there is a big kinetic advantage over your opponent if you can launch your missiles as fast and high as possible(better changes to hit the target because the missile caries more energy).

Is this modeled in the game?

If not can it be modded ?

Hi and thank you!

No, we do not model air density differences. Not that difficult to model, but hard to explain to the player exactly what is happening, so we decided against for now.

Modelling the advantage of shooting down is something that may be a good idea.

Yes this can have a big impact in the game, for example it's a fact that an AMRAAM launched from an F-22 Raptor at super-cruise speed flies faster and further than if launched at military(sub-sonic) speed. This is one of the big advantages to fire your missile high and fast, you gain first shoot and after you launch the first volley of missiles(and while the enemy is busy fighting off those missiles), you can close in for the kill if the missiles didn't hit the target.

Quote from wiki "The Raptor's very high sustained cruise speed and operational altitude add significantly to the effective range of both air-to-air and air-to-surface munitions. This gives it a 40% greater employment range for air to air missiles than the F-35".

I think this should be a must in a game like this :)

Also regarding modelling model air density differences, I can see where your going, for a not educated person it might seem strange that ordering his plane to go full afterburners will mean that the plane automatically goes to 50.000 feet :) but I imagine the most of the people who will buy and support this game in time is already educated at some degree :).

I don't see it as a big issue to understand, faster means higher, slower means lower :)

You could implement an automatic relation between speed and altitude so that for the users those changes can be transparent.

But this is just the icing on the cake for me, again I am very happy with your game, I plan to purchase it in the next few days and i really hope that you can have success with it so you can keep the updates rolling and maybe even some expansion packs in the future with more units, better graphics(current graphics is fine with me but it's always nicer to have more polygons on those beautiful ships and planes :) ) and more tweaks(like animation on plane taking of from aircraft carriers and airfields etc).
