Sorry if this has been asked repeatedly, but is it possible to play at either a Widescreen Mode (my native screen resolution is 1680x1050) or in a Windowed rather than Fullscreen mode? I'd probably prefer playing it in a Window so it looked as its normally meant to, but could still use the rest of the screen and not have solid black either side.

EDIT Playing Vic, not Ricky.

The same program has options to change the resolution beyond the supported ones. Not as reliable as windowed mode though.

When I load the wizard, all I get for Victoria and Revolutions are these Windowed Mode options:

As you can see, the ability to change resolutions only appears to work for Hearts of Iron 2. Where can I change the resolution for Victoria (besides making it a 1024x768 window)?

Tried Ederon's hack, its crashing with a fatal error.

Running on Vista 64bit, originally 1.03, updated to 1.03c and tried that, had this crash, updated to 1.04 and tried again, same thing.
Yeah, both programs (the Hexa Wizard and unknown's one) do not seem to work...

I just wish there were some simple way!

Did you create a resized load screen? Assuming that is done correctly it should at least load the game (although for me it always crashed when using the mouse to scroll the map down).

I have a related question: I've played V:R 1.1 in windowed mode for quite a while, using Lord Ederon's program. Now, however, when I got my new 24" monitor, it's not working anymore. Does anyone know what might be the problem? It still works fine in full-screen.

What resolution is the new monitor and what res are you running the game at? Is it crashing during loading or 'not working' in some other way?

I have used Unknown's screen resolution to adapt the game to my 1280x800 laptop.

It worked perfectly with the load_user.bmp at the same resolution and the avi folder marked with .bak.

Unfortunately I have an issue with the Victoria interface as the message log in the bottom doen't let me use part of the minimap and the bottons for different map views, zooms, options and the ledger. I think this is because the game only "sees" the message log when it is open.

Of course part of the message log is covered and I cannot read the lines properly.

A solution will be to resize the message log as it is in the normal 1024x768 resolution of Victoria Revolutions, but i don't know which graphics should be tweaked. Any idea, please?

So by clicking what appears to be nothing is actually where the buttons for different map views, etc... are?? If this is the case then it is just a question of rescaling the interface. There are a few things to rescale and I think it'd be best to ask tyrel68 about all the things to edit (he made a new interface before and so would have a better idea than most to what needs changing).

Yes.

Only the message log needs to be rescaled in order to be wholly readable starting from the right side of the minimap.

Could you post a screenshot of what you mean please? I get the part of the interface thing - it doesn't fit correctly - but the message box I'm not sure if anything can be done about?

Sorry for late reply!

Here is a pic

If you see at the bottom left corner, the history log is partly covered by the other menus...

A good thing would be to reduce the size of the interface on the left side.

EDIT: sorry, for the pic! I can't manage to have it displayed from imageshack...

I suspect that what is happening is that the game is using the left interface pane from the 1024x768 res and the message log box from the 1280x1024 res. I doubt that the left pane can be shrunk easily; a better solution would be to force the game to create the message box as if it was running in 1024x768. Not sure if there is a graphics file that can be modified for this or if it would be an additional .exe hack required.
