That is an extremely dangerous and arrogant attitude to take if you wish to sell software
Well, I don't sell any software, so what is your point ?
Hell of a response I get to my first post, eh?
??
You mean I'm not allowed to have an opinion while you are ?
There are certainly MUCH more important stuff for the developers to work on then changing things that really doesn't affect gameplay IMO (like chrashbugs, exploits, AI behaviour & inbalances). Are you seriously suggestiong they spend time on this instead ?
Also no less the 2 perfectly good solutions to the 'problem' had already been offered in the thread, so why continue to beat a dead horse ?
I believe the name used is the name of the computer in the Networking section of Windows.
Entirely correct.
I do not recommend changing that name unless you know what you are doing. If you have a cable modem (or perhaps a DSL), changing that could cause problems.
Usually high speed connections works with the MAC address on your NIC card. The Windows name is just for show, and can be anything from 'OEMCOMPUTER' to 'blueberry' to ...
Only trouble should be if you are in a workgroup where people are actually accessing your computer (ie don't change the name on a corporate PC in a LAN).
Of course, if your ISP specifically state you need to call your computer something specific, don't change to soemthing else (but this is very rare AFAIK).
