Playing lan

Hello Paradox peeps,

I didn't know where to post this, so I thought here would be a good idea.
I used to play HOI2 and doomsday via LAN with my brother.

We have tried a few times with some newer games, but have failed every time.

We have tried with EU3 and Arsenal of democracy.

Any advice on how to have a stable Lan game? What can be the reason?

The general problem seems to be some kind of out of sync situation (I'm sorry for bad explaining, not quite the expert). On EU3 it just went on to be 2 different games, while in AoD one just stops. Do you ever play LAN? How do you do it to ensure no problems?

What almost 100 % of the time works is just copying the folder of you or your brother and then pasting it in the others folder, it should not mess up anything if you both have it steam installed or any other way. Most of the time tiny differences can cause crashes. It also immediately prevents the bothersome checksum problem.

Even when you have the same game, sometimes you can have a different cache for whatever reason, this might also give trouble.
Some letting one generate a cache and giving it to the other would also give some extra stability for out of sync errors.

The only thing that happens to me more often then comet event is out of sync in MP.
