Hallo, i've got a problem:
I've tried to play a match with some friends of mine,
using a tcp ip connection, but we had some problems:
1) Diplomatic deals are delayed
2) The control over units is pratically annullated
3) We Experienced problem in reading info windows and also watching the map and unit
disposition in the provinces
4) The flowing of time during the match was weird and without and illogical

Have someone of you experienced these four problems during a match?
And how did you solve them?

I also would like to know if there's a new version, or a patch, that could fix these
problems.

Help me please, Thanks!

;)

Hello

Well the diplomatic deals to be delaied sounds like, data transfer time, or data transfer delay, also called lag,

This is often seen if you play on a host with not so good system, conection, or if its other issues, like range or other (can be many factors as i anderstand it), this lag make it go some time from you issue the diplomatic request (trade for an example) inill you get the anwser. This is because you see wrang date when issuing the trade poposal, if you pause you will then experience the time to still cuntinue, at same time as game is paused.
This happends because you are delaied, compered to the host, (delayed data transfer, or lag).

This can in most cases be fixed if the Host adjust time to slower then current speed, if you still have lag, it can be due to your, hosts or others conection, or due to range, data traffic, and other things out of your control.

If you lag you will also experience tec not to start when u press on it, (maby 10 days after you pressed) or troops not to move when you press ont them, maby 7 days later, and so on....
Its a problem to play if you have to mush lag, for an axmple, you order an attack, and you see it 6 days after all the other players.
The enamy invade you, and you see his troops 10 days after ... and so on...

So if you experience lag, i recommend you check you dont use other internett conections at same time, have minimum conection speed to play the game, and ask host for his conection, and were in the wourld he is.

I hope this help you, if not i recommend you to ask some of the forum moderators or administrators.

High Command

Echoing High Command,

Slow down the game speed
Make sure everybody's killed MSN messenger or anything else that could be on your network connection
Start fresh (reboot) whenever possible. Ie before rehosting.

Try alternating between an IP and a Vnet-hosted game. It's voodoo computing, but maybe it'll work for ya.

Got to love the spirit of the helpful posters.

Well if I lend you my computer and router, I think you'll be just as spirited too!

Seriously, although I wouldn't think your out of luck, but rather this is something you can try to fix with forwarding, but my best suggestion is to not use a router when playing MP in HoI.

If you really want to play HoI (or any PDox game for that matter) online then do what I do and force the room mates off the connection (mostly when they are sleeping) and hook the cable modem directly to the gaming machine.

If you can't... Well... Try the port forwarding rules and best of luck!

BTW does anyone have a recommendation for the best router? I know my Linksys won't work a hoot even though the port forwarding is setup correctly.
