Do you mean Vinland? Th AI certainly gets colonists.

That's the USA option in the IGC.

Jennifer,

You need to download the latest version of IGC and Vinland is one of the countries you can play as....

Thanks, Vulture. Quick question: I am very much opposed to tampering with 'historical authenticity' to 'improve' the game. That's my personal bias -- I really don't care if other people do it, were all here to have fun, right? Anyway, is the IMPROVED GC really (as the authors claim) driven in the direction of enhanced authenticiy? I notice that if you don't like it, you have to reinstall everything -- so I don't want to give it a shot unless it's really worthwhile. It's also a fairly big download for me.

Guess this wasn't such a 'quick' question after all. Anyway, this newbie would appreciate the benefit of your wisdom. Thanks.

Well I'd say about 85% of the ppl on these boards use... How is that for an argument :D
It is absolutely brilliant... More historical, more nations, more leaders, reworked province-owners, config tool which allows to select nations, etc...

Read Read-me for install procedure

What Vulture said. And it really is better than the original GC. Just read the read me and add to that far more historically accurate monarchs and leaders for just about all nations. Obviously the IGC isn't perfect, mostly due to limitations of the game itself but IMO it is far superior historical accuracy wise than the GC.

What I'd recommand to avoid re-installation if you don't like it (I'm sure you will, but some people still prefer the original GC, and aside that, you can't play the other scenarios with IGC installed), is to back up your folder. I usually zip it so I only have to unzip the whole thing back if I want to play something else.

Don't like Vinland myself-only included it in my last campaign so Byzantium could get knowledge of the Americas in 1492-and I'd edited Byzantium to give them the Ottomans' European provinces!:D

You DO can play other scenarios with IGC, the data are just modified

But beware some strange revolters. Didn't I hear about Uzbeks in Sardinia or something!:D
