Hey guys,

big problemo happend to me last night. I'm happily trudging along playing portugal and whoosh! my screen showers sparks everywhere:(
Now i go up to the attic, get my old 386 screen (oh yeah), plug it in, mess with the drivers for a long time, finally get it to work. Now, problem is, no way that old boy is going to 800x600. Stays stuck on 640x480. Is there any way i can play the game with that res, coz the game won't start (well, it starts fine with the intro movies, but won't go past that). I'm begging for help here, gonna be a while till i can replace my 19 inches....:D Any way this is possible?

thanx in advance

even a screen for a 386 should support 800x600... have you tried it with a lower color depth (256) and with a lower refresh rate (say, 60hz)?

Otherwise, as Uglyduck pointed, there's no way the game will run, or at least, no way we know about.

You could get a second-hand computer monitor from a local computer store. With a bit of luck, you might find a 14 or 15" monitor that supports 800x600 for less than 100$.

right click on your desktop, go properties...

click on setings/advanced/monitor.

does it say default, pnp or your brand name.

under monitor type it should say pnp or the brand name. i had this problem with someone using a brand new screen a 19" and it the comp wasnt detecting it so he was having troubles..

Re: How about a larger res?

the screen resolution is dictated by the game and is independant of your monitor. Unfortunately for you, the max resolution will be 1280x1024. You can only play at the game specified resolution.

Are you in the states (US) Zoupa? If so, you can find some pretty good deals on older (ie non TFT, flat screen) monitors. I myself snagged an 19" CRT $150.00 US at Best Buy. If you've got the change, its a hell of a deal.
