wtf is a milestone and why is a patch telling me to install one after i install the patch? I have been playing HOI since HOI1 and never heard of a 'milestone' ever.

also, yes the full changelog is a nice thing to include, but then so would be simple instructions as to how to apply it. like maybe ' installation, just click on the exe.'

yeah, it's simple and just a little more additional words, but then everyone knows what they should be doing!

also, i see that the new 4 letter code should be PHVR after the patch installation, mine is still showing LZGX for armegeddon 1.2

sorry if I am asking for something to actually work the first time. :(

hope someone has a good answer for this. I'd like to see the changes for armegedon. thanks

This could mean there is some file missing, its editted or you installed something premature.I.E. you installed an arma mod on DD(Bad example actually but cant think of something better atm)

Questions:

1. How did you install the 1.3 Beta patch? Did you extract the contents of the patch on top of your 1.2 Installation.

2. If you did where is your 1.2 installation located?

3. Are you running Vista or Windows 7?

Moved to technical support forum.

hi corey... I bought hoi2 DD and armegeddon from gamersgate. I think they are the main problem. I once had DD and arm installed and the arm 1.2 patch installed and the kaiserreich mod all installed and they all worked fine.

But, now i've since found 2 viruses in my hoi2 files so i removed them all. cleaned up my machine and i went to my gamers gate account today to download fresh copies of both my DD and Arm files. I installed them today, about 3 hours ago now, I've installed the arm 1.2 patch. arm game seems to work ok, but when I try to install either the 1.3 beta over a clean 1.2 of arm (checksum of LZGX for arm 1.2), or i install kaiserreich 1.1, (which is supposed to work on Arm 1.2) i get a "critical error" message telling me that my "scenario files had errors".

I have installed and uninstalled everything at least 3 separate times and i'm fed up with everything. Hence the 3 hours time frame for when i started.

Everytime i try to install the 1.2 arm patch I am installing the patch from ARM 1.0. I do not install any DD patches at all.

Sorry if i sound mad, but i have been playing puter games since win 98 came out and i havent ever had this much of a problem getting something to work... especially since i've had everything working correctly a few months ago.

what do i have to do... go out and buy a god damn effing "hoi anthology" box just so i can actually get uncorrupted game files to apply the patches and play this one damn mod.

I have a few other vanilla games that i have many mods to play with them and those games NEVER ever give me the problems that i'm having now with armegeddon.

Sorry for the swearing, but this is very very irritating!!

Make sure you are installing Armageddon over Doomsday, overwriting the original files, and the patch over Armageddon. You can't trust the default path the installers give you; usually you must set it yourself.

The milestone message means either you are trying to run Armageddon without the required Doomsday files or you are trying to run an Arma patch that has been installed to somewhere other than the folder where Armageddon is installed.

The proper checksum for Armageddon 1.2 should be VBLV.

ok.. first off. I have never gotten that checksum, thanks for that info.

next, so your telling me that now, (so that i do get the correct checksum for the arm install) I should send the arm files to replace the DD files in the paradox file?

so u mean that i tell the arm installer to install into the DD folder? or install into the paradox interactive folder?

sorry, but i'm confused cause now i cant rely on the installer to do it's job properly :(

now, thirdly, once I DO get the correct arm checksum, then i should be able to install the 1.3.2b patch and the kaiserreich mod and they both should work properly once again? yes?

or should i just try to find a armegeddon CD.. HOI Anthology Cd i mean.

a) Install DOOMSDAY into the DOOMSDAY folder

b) install ARMAGEDDON into the DOOMSDAY folder so that it overwrites the DOOMSDAY files

c) install the ARMAGEDDON 1.2 patch into the DOOMSDAY folder, again overwriting files.

Run the game and make sure the checksum for ARMA 1.2 is correct before trying the 1.3 beta 2 patch or the Kaiserreich MOD.

Correct. Armageddon replaces Doomsday like a large patch. Once you install Armageddon you can no longer play Doomsday.
(Note that there some other versions of Arma like that in the HoI Anthology that DOES install as a standalone game but the more usual GamersGate version does not.)

it just doesn't work. I got the exact same problem.

so I installed DD, then ARMA, then ARMA 1.2 with the checksum being VBLV. At that point, the game is working.
But when I copy the files that come with ARMA 1.3 beta 2, I get a message saying "install the latest milestone".

So what exactly did you do when you installed the 1.3b2 patch?

It should be like this: You download the patch, which is a zip file. You extract the zip (e.g. using WinZip, which is free) to somewhere else, creating a folder called "Arma 1.3b2" or similar. You go into that folder, so you can see the files and subfolders inside. You should be able to see a HoI2.exe file. If you do, select everything (Ctrl+A) and copy (CTRL+C). Now you go into your Armageddon folder, which should usually be called "Doomsday" or similar. Again, you should see the HoI2.exe file (among many more). If you do, insert (CTRL+V). Windows should ask you to replace files, say "yes to all" or similar.

That's it, you can now delete the temporary folder where you extracted the zip.

It works fine for me and many thousand other players, so if you got both a working Armageddon 1.2 installation and the right 1.3b2 patch, then the error must be in how you apply the patch. :)

EDIT: Also note that you cannot do the above with a Steam version or other digital download version which keeps part of the game at the provider. Gamersgate works fine, though.

Thanks very much for the exacting instruction PAL. I really do appreciate them.

Now hopefully, my 'chock full of MODS machine' will let me do this lol
