bout 4-5 hours until the war ended. still gonna play it though
When did war break out in your game? (Was it at the historical time, earlier or later?)
1914
Please describe the general course of the war. Which countries did well, and which did badly? If countries were conquered, how long did it take?
well germany started off rather well, captured belgium but they lost saarbrucken just before the digging in event. after that peace on the front commenced. there was a breakthourgh though in 1916 through Freiburg bu it was stopped there but we used that gap to push the Germans into the Germany's heartland and to knock-out Austrohungary. I crushed the weak Ottoman Empire in 2 years, made a succesfull Galipoli landing and then settled for peace, thought i regreat doing that but never mind. We then knocked out Bulgaria and later i used my troops to redeploy them to that gap in Freiburg,i captured Vienna and Austria and with the help of US and French troops captured Budapest and knocked out Austrohungary. Then we took out Germany. Russia was struggling in Poland thoughout the war and the Revolution happened
If the AI did anything really stupid or unhistorical (such as a country lending its entire army to an ally), please let us know.
Japan made an invasion of Northern Germany
And also what many have already described happened. The entire AH army was in German control, Germans moved along the front too much,etc...
I also have a few comments on events
The collapsed of Austrohungary could be better. Hungary gets the provinces in Poland and never released Yugoslavia. I had to make a greater Serbia which had no cores on Uzica and Macedonia!? I will however make a event for Yugoslavia to be created ina historic fashion-it can lead to war with Italy ofc.
Germany never surrendered-i have no idea whether the event fired but we had to go all the way thourgh Poland and even into the USSR which created a huge mixup which i cant fix entirely, mostly due to the fact that the US made a landing in east Prussia. And also with the civil wars in Ukraine,Baltic and Caucaus going on-well the map is more than colourfull now
Please let us know if there were any actual bugs in your game - such as events failing to work, ships appearing in land provinces, techs with no effect, pictures of jet fighters appearing in the unit roster, etc)
nothing special that i noticed

The Bug that Japan lands on the german coast will be fixed in 0.43 (already is in the latest dev)

= 0.43 - 1897 scenario

Which country did you play as? (If you play a 'hands-off' game, that's useful to know too)
= Imperial Japan

How long did you play for? (If you abandoned the game, it's still helpful to know what happened)
= Until autumn 1912

When did war break out in your game? (Was it at the historical time, earlier or later?)
= Never, since is topped well before 1914

Please describe the general course of the war. Which countries did well, and which did badly? If countries were conquered, how long did it take?
= Russia at some point obviiously lost interest in the east, since i did not get the historical war in 1905 between Japan and Russia. I did not get the historical event in 1907 where Korea wound up as a japanese protectorate (=muppet) and therefore no historical event occured in 1910 where Korea was basically annexed by Japan. Thus i invaded Korea in 1910 and annexed it soon after. In 1911 i declared war upon spain and invaded the Phillipines. Spain porved quite a fight here but in the end lost the Phillipines to me in 1912 ;)
By the way, looking how china fell apart by itself was quite funny to watch :D

If the AI did anything really stupid or unhistorical (such as a country lending its entire army to an ally), please let us know.
= The AI in Korea failed to keep its production up and running. Very soon their modiefied IC fell to 1.

Please let us know if there were any actual bugs in your game - such as events failing to work, ships appearing in land provinces, techs with no effect, pictures of jet fighters appearing in the unit roster, etc)
= Encountered no real bug

Some remarks om playing Japan in 1897:
- The manpower is quite low in Japan. If there are events which increase it until 1912 they did not fire. I would recommend increasing the manpower for Japan, because if not it wil probably loose the historical 1905 war (if it happens) .. up to 1912 i was just able to build 12 Guards, 12 Infantry, 16 Garrisons and about 20 ships and my manpower was near to zero then.

Korea is more or less fixed in 0.43
Check how many divisions Japan had in 1914 in real life - if you built an extra 40 divisions you exceed their historical performance quite significantly.

If you have a save game, try attacking Russia in 1904, I think that the peace events might fire all the same.

Russia is dierly lacking resources in my 1904 scenario (which I would assume is the case in 1897 as well). She has no way to support herself, whatsover. energy, metal, and rares iirc. Which should be in abundance.

Oh I think somebody already mentioned this a few months ago. Any ideas where to place hich resources?

Maybe Siberia. I think that's where they come from even today.

0.42. Vanilla HoI2.

Which country did you play as? (If you play a 'hands-off' game, that's useful to know too)

Japan.

How long did you play for? (If you abandoned the game, it's still helpful to know what happened)

1897 or whenever the first scenario starts until 1918.

When did war break out in your game? (Was it at the historical time, earlier or later?)

Much earlier. War broke out between France and the UK around 1900 (event-driven I believe), but this made the USA join the french-russian alliance and therefore sent the USA at war with the UK (they invaded Canada :p).

I was playing Japan, and when the Boxer Rebellion happened Germany invited me to it's alliance for some reason, and I accepted.

Then the russo-japanese war happened. France didn't get involved because they got an event to stay out of the war, but the USA got thrown into a war against the UK and the Quadruple Alliance at the same time.

No nations have the military capacity to actually do a naval landing on any other nation, and no major alliances accept peaces, so the war never ends. I quit in 1918.

Please describe the general course of the war. Which countries did well, and which did badly? If countries were conquered, how long did it take?

The UK had a rough time with parts of Australia and Canada invaded. France had most of Africa invaded. Nothing happened in Europe.

If the AI did anything really stupid or unhistorical (such as a country lending its entire army to an ally), please let us know.

Nothing apart from what's been said.

Nothing I noticed in this game, but in another one as Austria-Hungary I got three hundred events of a discovered technology at the same time.

Started 1897 and ended game in Januar 1919

When did war break out in your game? (Was it at the historical time, earlier or later?)
2nd August 1914

Please describe the general course of the war. Which countries did well, and which did badly? If countries were conquered, how long did it take?
1914: A-H invades and annexes Serbia & Montenegro. Russia gains some german and A-H provinces. Frances captures Elsass-Lothringen, even gains Saarbruecken.
1915: Russia advances into A-H. Germany recaptures Saarbrucken. Westfront then stays fixed until i ended the game in 1919. Otto is severly beaten by Russia since it was already in a war against greece (who had captured Istanbul). Otto gets surrender event.
1916: Russia is driven out of A-H and germany.
1917: Russia is nearly annihilated by Germany and A-H. Gets surrender event. Greece joins Entente, conquers Bulgaria. I (Japan) declare war upon germany and conquer all german and portugese islands in the pacific.
1918: Greece is invaded by A-H until only Crete remains in greece. China joins the Axis, declares war upon Japan.
Early 1919: China is defeated & annexed by Japan

If the AI did anything really stupid or unhistorical (such as a country lending its entire army to an ally), please let us know.
- When the Qing empire was struggling with heavy partisan activity Indonesia(!?) declared itself independant in the chinese province of Kuaching (!?)
- In the war between Spain <-> USA the USA did not invade Puerto Rico, Guam and the Phillipines. Until 1919 they remained spanish.
- Portugal had already joined the Axis (!) before WWI instead of joining the entente march 1916
- The british empire never joined the war (probably because Germany never attacked belgium and the Netherlands)
- USA never declared war upon Germany and A-H (but i'm not sure if the Lusitania event happened)
- Romania stayed completely out of the war

Please let us know if there were any actual bugs in your game - such as events failing to work, ships appearing in land provinces, techs with no effect, pictures of jet fighters appearing in the unit roster, etc)
When Russia claimed Port arthur and i selected in the event the choice which immediatly causes war between Japan and Russia instead of following the historical event chain i got in the first naval battle afterward with russia an Unknown AI script event

A final remark
I really enjoyed this game. Korea AI was much better than in the last game and all the 1904/05 Japan <-> Russia war events fired as long as i stayed with history ^^

Keep on going ;)

Italy - it is my favourite and the main goal was to fight epic naval battles with France and GB

When did war break out in your game?
1914

Please describe the general course of the war. Which countries did well, and which did badly? If countries were conquered, how long did it take?
First of all it was easy to play Italy because GB never entered the war. Also AI was quite passive at all. G and A-H was holding in the east against Russia and annexed Serbia. In southern France Italy break through and conquered Paris. In this time both France(+ Belgium) and Germany had 70-80 divisions in the "maginot line" and did nothing. after France defeat Italy sent troops to Konigsberg and break thoriugh russian front. Moscow has been conquered in 1915 summer. After Moscows fall Turkey joined Axis. Left game after that because it was not too many challange in the game anymore

If the AI did anything really stupid or unhistorical (such as a country lending its entire army to an ally), please let us know.
-Swiss and Greece is free to conquer in the 1890s because nobady is guaranteeing them
-Russia declared war on China in 1901 and annexed it n 2-3 years.
-GB never joined Entente
-Italy stayed in CP, but actually it was my fault
-Montenegro stayed neutral till 1915, but than they joined Entente. After this they conquered 2-3 A-H province, seems A-H AI cannot handle this situation
-I checked a couple of country (not played just wanted to see what they have) and I think powers are not so well balanced. In 1914 GB had almost the same amount of divisions (110) as France (120) , which is not so historical. GB had also more land army than A-H (80). G was loading with 220, Russia had cca 170 and Italy 80.

Please let us know if there were any actual bugs in your game - such as events failing to work, ships appearing in land provinces, techs with no effect, pictures of jet fighters appearing in the unit roster, etc)
the only disturbing thing was that Germany and A-H sent 100+ dividions as expeeditionary force - I had to change the save file manually to not do this. but basically no bugs

Finally I want to say it is a fantastic mod, I really enjoyed it. keep up the work. Thank you guys :)

UK in my first game, Austria-Hungary in a second

1900 as UK, 1903 as AH

When did war break out in your game? (Was it at the historical time, earlier or later?)

hasn't yet, aside from Spanish-American in AH save

Please describe the general course of the war. Which countries did well, and which did badly? If countries were conquered, how long did it take?

Italy invaded the US but was forced out, then some back and forth battles between Germany and US in Cuba, my AH fleets funk a few US warships, then Spain accepted peace in an event

If the AI did anything really stupid or unhistorical (such as a country lending its entire army to an ally), please let us know.

in my UK game, Spain gave Cuba independence without a second thought, while "Panama Canal Zone" joined the Entente at the same time France and Russia somehow left the Entente for the Central Powers(and were accepted), but AH left the Central Powers(at this point i lost interest in the game with such a powerful alliance sitting there)

Please let us know if there were any actual bugs in your game - such as events failing to work, ships appearing in land provinces, techs with no effect, pictures of jet fighters appearing in the unit roster, etc)

i guess two things i noticed is that sometimes when joining shippless fleets together while the game is paused causes the game to crash(i think this happens on my non-modded game as well), and in my AH game, i landed troops in a US controlled part of Cuba, and when allied German troops entered the province is changed to German control and fired off an "Enemy in sight" alert until i exited the province

0.43. I modified some leader promotion dates. I wanted von Falkenhayn to already be a full general in 1914. I believe I also made Crown Prince Wilhelm a Lt. General instead of a Major General in 1914.

Germany

How long did you play for? (If you abandoned the game, it's still helpful to know what happened)

1914 to 1919

When did war break out in your game? (Was it at the historical time, earlier or later?)

Historically.

Please describe the general course of the war. Which countries did well, and which did badly? If countries were conquered, how long did it take?

I tried to play as historically as possible. I was not able to seize Paris before the Schlieffen Plan failed, but I did gain more ground than the Germans historically did. For example, the province that would have held Verdun was captured. From then on, the Western Front was very stable. I eliminated a French salient at Lille after numerous attempts, and the French never tried attacking me. It was a relatively bloodless stalemate. There was a great deal of air combat, however.

Japan immediately joined the Allies. They did focus on the Pacific, but had a fleet in the North Sea, and launched amphibious attacks against the Ottoman Empire and landed an expeditionary force in France.

Russia did very well initially, penetrating into A-H as far as about halfway down Romania.

I found that my allies performed somewhat historically, with some small differences. The Austrians were unable to gain any ground in Serbia or Italy without my assistance. Bulgaria joined the war, but I was forced to take control of their military in order to get them to do anything worthwhile.

The Ottoman Empire did not defend its borders very well. Towards the end of 1915 it allowed itself to be almost completely overrun. I believe I would have easily been able to beat Russia in 1916 had I not been forced to send about 20-30 divisions (German, Austrian, and Bulgarian) to the Middle East. Persia joined the Central Powers in 1915 or 16. Britain seemed to have focused its entire ground strategy against the Ottomans. I saw very few British divisions in France.

The US declared war in 1917 on schedule. I was able to get the High Seas Fleet into the Atlantic and intercepted the entire US transport fleet. To my knowledge, not a single American division was ever landed in France.

I believe I could have defeated Russia prior to the Revolution, but I waited for it to fire to see what would happen. Then, I seized St. Petersburg and Moscow. When they finally surrendered, at least a third of the western Soviet provinces that they retained were in revolt. The territories that I got in the peace event seemed somewhat scattered. I also kept Moscow - they never got it back. I selected the option to annex Poland "for the security of the Reich" but it still retained once province (said province might have been occupied by A-H...I'm not sure).

Siberia declared independence from USSR, and took the vast majority of the country (everything east from about the line above the Caspian Sea).

I defeated Italy and France in early and mid 1918 respectively. Britain surrendered in September. However, they did not give up any territory whatsoever. (Gibraltar would have been nice, no?). However, the US, Brazil, Japan and Portugal remained at war with me. In November, the UK and Japan declared war on the USSR. I was forced to launch and amphibious attack against Portugal. Despite taking Portugal, the Azores, and all their African colonies, they don't want to surrender. Japan left the Entente, but remained at war with me. Likewise, I seem to have no way to get Brazil or the US out of the war. Brazil landed a few divisions in Africa, but that's it.

When I quit the game in April 1919, it seemed that the Soviets were about to lose the Russian Civil War. They were fighting the small White forces, and the massive country of Siberia. I may continue onward to see just what happens - and how much success I might have trying to put an expeditionary force under von Falkenhayn ashore in like...oh...say...Massachusetts.

If the AI did anything really stupid or unhistorical (such as a country lending its entire army to an ally), please let us know.

The only thing I didn't like was the Ottoman Empire not using its troops to guard its borders properly. Half its army was in interior provinces while the British marched up from Sinai.

Please let us know if there were any actual bugs in your game - such as events failing to work, ships appearing in land provinces, techs with no effect, pictures of jet fighters appearing in the unit roster, etc)

For some reason (and this was not the case in 0.42) the brigade pictures are messed up. They seem to be "off", in that it's like you half of one and half of another. Very strange. The icon for "Experimental Monoplane Fighter" seems to be missing.

I want to say that I've been playing this mod for a year or more, and you guys are doing a terrific job. It's really a lot of fun. My compliments to all of you, and keep up the good work.

Very strange game. Never heard of a similar situation before.

I figured out why the French and Russians allied, and why the Canal Zone was made leader of the Entente, its due to an issue given to the French suggesting a "French-German-Russian" alliance against the British, it seems Austria-Hungary does not like this and leaves the Central Powers.

Version: Armageddon .43
Scenario: 1914
Country: France
What happened:
War started historically. Germany DoWed all Benelux. Germany couldn't even conquer Luxemburg. I use fullcontrol and make them attack to Belgium.

..

..

..

Five minutes later they are in Marseille.

I was totally overrun. I had no reinforcements, Germans had 53 divisions only for Paris. I got totally pwned. Casualties were rocketing up, and many divisions fell even before they were in Paris.

Do I just suck or what is this??

Unfortunately we are still fuzzing with a lot of AI problems and more problems arose from early efforts to counter them provisorically. German AI actually is quite aggressive and successful in conquering France as soon as it has broken Belgian resistance in the first place. In addition they are granted extra troops by AI cheats and the AI always concentrates on human enemies.

On the other side, the British AI is currently focussed on taking out the Ottoman Empire unhistorically early instead of sending support troops to France.

Your options:
1. Get familiar with AI coding, write new ai files and share them with us (my favorite!)
2. lower the difficulty setting
3. disable ai cheats by editing mobilization events
4. try and persuade Britain to grant you control over their troops and ship them in manually
5. concentrate your troops in easily defendable mountain provinces behind rivers, have them dig in, provide them with art or gas detachments, choose defensive leaders, ministers and prepare for an epic challenge (my second favorite)

When did war break out in your game?

Historical. Everyone DoWed who should.

Please describe the general course of the war. Which countries did well, and which did badly? If countries were conquered, how long did it take?

France was overrun within 2 months, I occupied 3/4th of the country when their defeat event fired. Belgium surrendered some days later, Luxembourg was already annexed. I noticed France had supply problems pretty soon, even before I took Paris.
A-H was steadily pushed back to the carpates by this time, I had to send some troops to support them.
Russia took Memel (which i left undefended), otherwise did not attack me but A-H.
I allied with Turkey in late October. They invaded Russia, but were thrown back soon. They took Kuwait, but did not advance on Sinai, though it was undefended and there for the taking.
My colonies stood no chance.
During Winter I invaded Britain. Its red little army had 1-3 divisions in each coast province, and assembled an army in Portsmouth. However, sometimes they stripped a coast province off its defence. I used such a gap to land. They did not eliminate my invasion force when it was still possible (I had only 3 transports). Their navy put up a good fight (for an AI), but never disturbed my landings. When I reached the Highlands in spring, Britain surrendered. That was a good thing because they were already conquering the Ottomans from the South :)
During winter I also conquered Serbia/Montenegro. The Austrians put 4 divisions in every border province to Serbia (vs 1 or 2 in a Serbian province), but never tried to advance without my help. (Quite historical, isn't it?)
After the spring thaw, I invaded Russia. I took the rest of Poland (the small one, "Congress" or how it's called;) ) and landed in the Baltics. They surrendered when I had Poland and the Baltics with Riga and stood before St. Petersburg. I had NOT Ukraine, Belorussia. Also the Ottomans were in deep shit; Ankara had fallen and the Russians were about to reach the Mediterranean. This was in June.
Afterwards, I enjoyed my victory and waited for some months to enjoy the peace Treaty events even more :)

If the AI did anything really stupid or unhistorical (such as a country lending its entire army to an ally), please let us know.

Britain wasn't good at defending its coast, s. above
A-H insisted on lending me forces, about 6 units every time. I had to use the event tweaking their AI to stop them.
The Ottoman empire performed bad without my help. (I don't know if this is unhistorical or indeed VERY historical)
After their defeat, Britain had 0/xxx IC for a long time. Loading the game as them I found out they lacked resources, but still had many trade agreements trading resources for supplies.
Britain annexed the Ottoman puppets on the Arabian peninsula, but gave none of them back in the peace treaty.
I spotted some Japanese transports in the Baltic Sea, I'm glad they were defeated already...

Please let us know if there were any actual bugs in your game

Like I noticed in many mods, after the first day of a scenario the IC need from the units already in the queue jumps to their actual values.
I couldn't build CA because BC level 1 (?) made them obsolete, I corrected that myself. Or was that intended?
Nearly every ship model had a fuel consumption of 0.
I also couldn't find a ship with a convoy raiding value other than 0, but I didn't look too close. (I know the ability itself is given later by tech)
Where's my offmap-production of money the techniques known in 1914 should give me? :-(
My own air units are USELESS until 1915, when ground attack becomes available. My Zeppelins still just consume supplies. Can't you do anything, so you can use them as scouts over enemy territory, at least? (Spotting a gap between two German armies advancing on Paris could be useful...)
The AI, however, uses its planes to perform logistical strikes. It's just 1% each strike, more annoying than a threat, but I HATE it when the AI does something it should not (yet) be able to do.
On August 26th 1914 a "Pioneers of the air"-event fired. It did not seem to belong there.
I am opposed to the "Raw Materials Agency" - event picking random provinces for the IC-build. They tend to be in Africa and therefore in British hands pretty soon.
It was kinda strange that, after France's defeat, Britain still had military access. This led to some battles with me in the region around Marseille - on neutral ground, with the possibilty for both sides to retreat to friendly territory indefinetely (since I couldn't occupy the French territory any longer).
In the peace treaty, Britain kept 3 provinces (Maun, Francistown, Gaberones) north of SA. She built up a stockpile of resources (metal + rare materials) there (possibly from their puppet SA?) I think they should hand over these provinces to Germany, or a way be found that they don't waste those resources.
Last: The spelling of the German militia unit should be "Landsturm", not "Landstürm". Believe me, I'm German ;)

P.S.: Hey, your mod really starts to reach a playable status. I'm impressed, keep up the good work!

I can answer a single question:

fuel consumption of ships: there was a discussion about coal burning and oil burning ships. TheLand, who made the naval mod, decided to put coal burning ships at 0 fuel need. We should put fuel consumption back in, because there is no way to make them burn coal.

I played until late 1916 (Germany was defeated and I get board in peace ;) )

When did war break out in your game? (Was it at the historical time, earlier or later?)

The first time I played through war didn't start at all because Austria was to timid, so I took a previously saved game and then it started one day after when it did historically.

Please describe the general course of the war. Which countries did well, and which did badly? If countries were conquered, how long did it take? AND If the AI did anything really stupid or unhistorical (such as a country lending its entire army to an ally), please let us know.

Germany was really timid to attack Belgium, and only did when 12 of their divisions (Is this supposed to happen) magically appeared in Brussels where they were surrounded and destroyed by the B.E.F. Germany threw away her navy and The Brits never joined the Entente. They kept their own alliance though. After years of fighting the Russians Smashed through the A/H and German divisions and took Berlin, coinciding with my great Western offensive which took back Dunkirk and Belgium. Then Armistice events fired. Oh-and Italy crushed A/H in Austria and Yugoslavia.

Please let us know if there were any actual bugs in your game - such as events failing to work, ships appearing in land provinces, techs with no effect, pictures of jet fighters appearing in the unit roster, etc)

except for the problems mentioned in the first question, the only problem was certain ship graphics looking like someone took a shredder to the graphic.
