Download the 1.4.2a installer, and run it, then get the 1.4.2b zip and unzip it into your EU2 folder.
When you statrt a GC, go into 'Options' and make sure that you have the 'Using the Betas' switch selected - I think you have to scroll down for it.

did you run it with the "Using betas" option selected? Did it give any message when CtDing?
