Hello,

I am trying a Fantasy GC with the Byzantines. I did it a couple of times on 'regular' GC's and I went quite qell most of the time.
Now it is much more difficult. You start out with way less CB-shields and I just don't seem to get my empire going.
I go for Athens and Albania, but that gives me a very bad rep from the start.
So I am trying to kick the OE. Doesn't work, because they hardly ever get into serious wars with others, so they most of the time throw all their weight towards me.

Nobody, except Venice, wants to be my ally. I get Venice always as soon as I can, but then no one else wants to join.

And what do I do with the big event on changing to catholic? I do it, for the Italian culture, but is it wise? And with the Mustafa-event I usually go to war with the OE.

I got the OE on its knees today, but I had so many loans that my economy was extremely bad, my rep was bad and everybody (like Ragusa and Moldavia) DOWed me...

Can someone please give me some tips, just to get started correctly?

By the way, is it correct that Tyrol and Steir are provinces yet to be colonized?

And I am running 1.4, by the way.

The current EEP Fantasy GC is how shall we say, not ready for prime time. I would take a look at the stickyed bug thread, then decide if you want to fix it yourself or wait on the update.

To fix it i copied the include for events from the scenario information for the fantasy gc to the base eep gc.
Anyway to the point of the thread i send a state gift to the ottomans, and then ally with them. Leaching of the ottoman conguests for 3 or 4 decades, normally taking the dutchy and a war agaisnt venice for some of the islands. After you become a decent size take down the ottos (make sure to get the provinces need to trigger the revival)

Typically, if you conquer Hellas and Ionia, you should have enough space and manpower to make a run on the Ottomans, as long as you take out a couple of loans, direct your entire budget to minting coins, and build a mostly-cavalry army. Let the Turks cross the Bosphorus to get to you, and you have a good chance of winning. You may still have to bribe them with a state gift to begin with, but an alliance isn't necessary.

I find it a good war to avoid loans and you can lead the turks into wars they will lose armies since they will honor thier alliance with you. But to each thier own

CirMag is absolutely right. Just copy the events to the include for the regular GC when you want to play Byzantines. Works best this way, and the events are what makes the fantasy game anyway. If you want to, you can copy the leader and monarch file into the EEP/DB/Leader and Monarch directory as well, just for fun. Beware, this will overwrite files, back them up first.

Oh, man, this is definitely going to cause problems. I am so bad at those things.
Maybe I can better wait for a better version with maybe also more events?
I will try my luck at another nation today. I feel like having me some strüdeln today, so I'll try the Austrians. Haven't done that one yet with the new EEP.

Any tips?
