Hmm. Quiet here I see.
I just ended my latest EUI game as Portugal. (I haven't played EUI much lately, but it was refreshing experience.) I think that EUI is more challenging than EU2 and you need to use completly different strategies to win the game. What I liked was the need of agressive colonization, because there aren't that many weak native tribes to conquest as in EU2. So it takes much more effort to colonize America and Africa. Late game was horrible because Spain was constant pain in my ass, I didn't take care of them early enough, because I was allied with them to 1650's and after that they were very strong.
I was planning to play my next game as Poland-Lithuania, because I have never tried to play as them. Has anyone any good tips how to beat Russian and Austrian menace around my borders and where should I expand in early game. I was thinking that alliance with Turkey might be a good thing.
