I have a number of POPs who change ideology every day. In one province I have 6 POPs who change between liberal and socialist and then back again every two days. These POPs have 0 militancy and 2-3 conciousness. The situation has reached a stage where the party votes change by 2-3% per day (and back again every other day). If its relevent the POPs are non-national/wrong-religion in a non-national-province.

yep, have seen this too. Usually with soldiers (in my case).

I don't understand why its happening but isn't the outcome desirable? People's opinions are not an exact science and opinion polls swing by at least that margin in real life.

If it grows to 5-10% I would be concerned.

One problem I have seen in 1.02 is that the pops would change ideology and merge with others in an RGO or factory and production would change, then they would change back and production would change again.

ie: 1 pop @ 20,000 and 1 @ 1000 would produce say .27 fabric but when they merge they would produce .25 as 21,000 pop. (numbers are not exact as it happened a while ago)

This may not occur with the way the pops merge in 1.03 as I haven't been watching for it at all.

This is due to non-linear POP productivity (and is nothing to do with ideology  )

I'm a little confused then. I would open an RGO and watch it go from 5 slots being filled to 4 filled and one of them increases in number. At the same time, I would see the output change (lower) and within a day or so, it would be filled again. I would then go to my pop details in that state and watch as the pops would change (usually religion) and merge with another pop and then revert back.

As I said, I know this happened in 1.02 but haven't seen it much in 1.03, probably due to the change in pop merging. I'm not concerned about it (which is why I never brought it up before) but I am still confused about it.

Derek,

After re-reading your reply I understand exactly what you are saying about non-linear production as I have noticed this too, but what I am talking about seemed to be directly linked to the pops merging. Perhaps what I saw was a coincidence (sp) as they happened at the same time. :)

Zed,

This has been in since the start of the game - the productivity of POPs is not linear hence 1+1=3 in some cases in this game ;)

The reasoning was to assist smaller nations from being completely dominated by the larger ones IIRC. It does result in some anomalies, both in productivity and also in assisting ethnicially diverse nations at the expense of monocultural ones.

I notice that a given POPs primary and secondary issue flip-flops on the day that they get luxury goods, and switches back the next day until they again can make a luxury purchase.

OK. Thanks for clarifying it.

Fairweather socialists - give them their opium and they vote liberal

I'm not worried about people changing from liberal to Socialist every month or so, or about people who change because they can afford to buy what they want. I'm worried about POPs who every second day change their mind, and every other second day change their mind back again. People can be indecisive (Isn't this what low Conciousness means?) but to change ideology every day for years on end is just silly.

Why? Its only 2-3%. Are you saying that when they say that there is a margin of error in polls of 2-3% in every election today that that is silly too?

Keep an eye on it - if it grows into a larger % let me know.
