It seems Portugal will have some action in Aberration... Well I think that if that is to happen something must be REALLY diferent, first, the color Portugal should have the "vanilla" color, second, I think it should only target Iberia and the reconquista... I also think we should creat a new creatable kingdom, the kingdom of Iberia, this should happen if there is no more Cristian kingdoms in Iberia ( the last remaining Kingdom should take the mantle of the reconquista and claim to be the only kingdom in Iberia ), or one have vassalized all of the other kingdoms, or one of the kingdoms have Conquered ( 5 or 6 provinces in Iberia ) should have the oportunity to form the kingdom of Iberia and then ask the other kingdoms if they want to be vassals of this new kingdom ( if they are not already, or if they still exist ). This new kingdom would recieve some cores, some land leaders and the monarch list of the "mother kingdom". This kingdom would also recieve lot's of Reconquista's Events and possible go on a cruzading spree and if possible conquer north of Africa and colonize the rest of northen africa ( substituing Granada as the Iberian-North Africa Major )...

what you think?

There will be a Portugal, but most likely a midget to Eire whom she will depend on, and expelling the Muslims from Iberia would be a bit more or less similar to RL Spain , no?Rather, the "iberian" Kingdom - needs a new name by the way :p - would gain *some* cores in the unislamizied regions of Iberia + a sort of "agreement" with Cordoba.

I have just actually finished working on the new Portugal, at east a core of it. Some ideas are already in the Beta 5 Tracking thread.

Here are some core bits of information.

1. Portugal can be created via the following:

a. An events from within Eire in the 1500s where a reconqunest is launched, with or without Eirean assistance.

b. Eire permits the creation of a Principality of Portugal in a province in the New World. Their ai gets cores on the old Portugal and may actually try a reconquest. But we all know how good the ai is at overseas invasions. I wrote them an ai which gives them the best chance, but ...

c. If Oporto wins against the moors and retakes Tago they can form Portugal.

2. Portugal gets the vanilla monarchs and many of the leaders, but most of them are dormant.

3. If the Portugal ever retakes all three core provinces, it gets an event to chose to stay peaceful and be an explorer/trader, or to engage in an Iberian reconquest. Each option wakes the appropriate leaders from their files. If they chose war and have some initial success, they then can get cores AND all of their remaining previosuly-slept explorers/conquistadors.

Mostly this will be in the hands of the ai. Players of Eire could ensure that Portugal has its revolt, then save and reload as Portugal, I guess, although I'm not sure how, as it isn't a starting nation and that's the only method I know of of breaking into an existing game as a different nation.

Well I think that Portugal should never go in a trade/exploring way, for this is too "vanilla"... And I think this Iberia would substitute Cordoba as Major/medium power, IF Cordoba is defeated, I mean something like highlander, only one can survive... But I think Iberia should only survive 10% of the times or something...

If Portugal is recreated they have to choose if they'll be friendly with the moslems (nothing really happen after that) or if they'll continue th reconquista (huge conflict). Same goes for the other iberian christian minors. Also they should all be able to create the empire of Iberia if any of them becoem the dominant iberian power (which should be almost impossible).

I think that if Portugal re-emerges and THEN manages to survive the onslaught it will receive from Cordoba, then it deserves to have generals and explorers. This will be much much different from Vanilla for two big reasons.

1. No TOT.

2. Except for highly unusual and unlikely scenarios (like SP Oporto) Portugal will not be able to receive its full slate of leaders until well after the colonisation process is underway. Maybe by 1540. So, it will be a minor player in the colony game, as befits a minor power.

As for the recreation of a Kingdom of Iberia. Yes, this concept makes sense. Who wants to do the work? :D

Great!.

Where can I send you the Portugal files so that you can review and then write up some ideas.

I can do the scripting.

event = {
id = ?????
random = no
country = CRD
province = Iberia
name = "Refugees flee in blah blah"
desc = " Following the conquest of the province of blah blah, many of the wealthy and the merchants have fled for Eire."

action_a = {
name = "We laugh at their heels as they flee"
command = { type = population which = ??? value = -1000 }
command = { type = cash value = -30 }
}
}

I find this totally amusing and funny - I felt I was joining in :D

Calipah,

I like the name you give the event. We need a little more humour in the game. I make the changes. ;)

Now, where is the Caliphate file! Post that darned thing!

This are my ideas...

Any Iberian Nation:
If she controls 6 Provinces,
Forms Iberia, triggers and event where the other nations have the oportunity to be a vassal of this new nation, wins cores on all of Northen Iberia
If she is the only Iberian Nation left,
Forms Iberia, have a core on all of Northen Iberia
If she has the other Iberian nations as their vassals
Forms Iberia, wins cores on all of Northen Iberia

Iberia:
If Iberia is bigger then 8 and conquers a new province
Iberia choose if She wants to give the province to the Cleric, nobles or the people
Cleric: Wins a missionary and +1Narrowind
Nobles: Wins cavalary and +1Aristocracy
People: Wins Gold and +1Plutocracy
If Iberia owns Tago, Castilla, Andalusia, Valecia and Controls Toledo
Wins cores in all of Iberia but Gibraltar and Granada
If Iberia controls all of Iberia
Wins cores in Gibraltar and Granada
If Iberia owns and controls all of Iberia, 3stab, not at war, +6aristocracy
Wins CB against North Africa and military sleep other 2 events
If Iberia owns and controls all of Iberia, 3stab, not at war, +6narrowind
Wins CB against North Africa and missionaries sleep other 2 events
If Iberia owns and controls all of Iberia, 3stab, not at war, +6plutocracy
Wins CB against North Africa and Gold sleep other 2 events
If Iberia owns all of North Africa
Go for Alexandria or Weastern African Coast.
Alexandria: Wins CB's against who Controls Alexandria
Weastern African Coast: CB's against those nations, Colonists and some Cores in Strategical WAC provinces.

this are the "base" events for the creation of Iberia, what you people think of it?

Well, a bit too much if you ask me.

Look at it this way, The Order of the Scimitar is somewhat a revival of the Ottoman Empire, Wessex is in another form, England.We give them little cores to represent their expansion and development, the Iberian Kingdom should be limited to Iberia, with little or no involvement in North Africa.

Thats my opinion at least, because at what your saying, we might as well call them Spain.

Well Iberia would not be Spain, Well in Max we could call it Hispania, or Hiberia... No Spain... And this Iberia would not go into North America, nor be in an Habsbourg like empire... And this Iberia would almost never happen... And yes this maybe too much, but the thing is, In Both North Africa and the rest they would never recieve CB Shields, or Cultures, also, an non-Culture, non-CB shield North Africa is much important that North America ever was :)

What about having Asturias instead of Iberia? Afterall, the Kingdom of Asturias was the first state to rise against the muslim occupation. It then disintegrated into several Kingdoms: Castille, León, Navarra, Aragon, Galicia, etc.

I resent Muslim "occupation" :D ;)

Hi all,

Back in Canada but had to wait over a week for the internet to be reconnected.

I like Kenny's overall plan but I agree with Calipah that the North African agenda is a little too strong. Then again, maybe not. Once formed, this Hispania/Astruias or the Expanded Portugal might have the choice at one point between two different kings. One more interested in peace with the remains of Cordoba, the other bent on Reconquista all the way to Tangiers. The choice would set different leaders and event. I am (if you haven't noticed already) really big on options and variety for Aberration II.

However, Kenny's basic plan is exactly what is called for.
