I want to show my appreciation for your good work, I have been very surprised with my first DAIM game. A little AAR.
For my first DAIM campaign, I went with UK, '36 scenario. Last time I tried in Vanilla, I have annexed Germany in January '40...this time I expected some more resistance!
Here is what happened: 1 september 39 (historical events so far), my armored corps rolled through German lines in order to encircle German forces stationend in the Rhur region. It was a success, at least ten divisionswere captured. Just like my last game: but then, something happened.
I continued my advance, Germany was largely undefended (just like last time) but this time:
1) I failed to gain air superiority: the Luftwaffe was strong enough to beat my fighters and pound my troops a good bit.
2) French forces eagerly followed me! Last time they stayed in the Maginot line even when I was parading in Berlin, this time they assisted me all along the way.
3) German AI didn't panic, even when I was blitzing, he continue the attack against Poland, annexing it in two weeks (great!) and THEN it launched its division against mine, stopping my advance in Postdam, one day before reaching Berlin.
4) It looked like I was going to be undergunned, I thought I had to retreat all the way to Saarbrucken (and I was very happy with it, last time I just rolled through anything and by 1940 the fun was ended) but then, the magic happened...the Soviets DOWed Germany...a week after having received their share of Poland...that was the BEST AI move I have ever seen by far: it was exactly what every player would have done, stabbing Germany in the back when it was weak and its division were far from Warsaw...great thinking.
And now, I'm getting ready for the REAL war, against a super 300+ divisions USSR in possession of all Eastern Europe.
Thank you DAIM team, great work.
