Some people may have noticed a problem where regions that revolt sometimes don't have a culture or religion, and this causes the game to freeze up within a couple of months.

Well, I might have a solution. This event changes a country's primary culture to whatever the culture of its capital is, and so should, in theory, do the same to any breakaway region that has no culture. It doesn't yet fix the noreligion issue, but that doesn't seem to cause any real problems.

I haven't had a chance to actually test it extensively, I just did a simple test where I changed the culture of my faction (Numidia) to Celtic and the event fired in about 33 days, though I can't figure out how to make it always happen immediately (I tried the always = yes solution and MTTH = -1 days but neither made it any quicker) without using the title hack method.

To install, just copy it to your EUR\events subfolder. It doesn't replace any existing events and is completely compatible with the Total Conquest Mod and Mod Collection. It is also savegame compatible.

Edit: just tested it again by removing the line for my county's (Numidia) primary_culture in the savegame, and again in 33-34 days the event fired perfectly and changed the culture as expected. It feels good when something works :)

Just a quick update: I've just noticed there's a missing "}" in this event. It will still work, but if you have any events after it they won't work. The missing bracket is in the very last part of the effects, so scroll to the bottom and it should stick out like a sore thumb to most modders.

I posted it at 4am, so I have an excuse :p

after some checks, i dislike one of the effects of this mod:
the changing-stateculture-command occurs, that nations like seleucids or (esp. in RIMP) egypt and numidia hold primary_cultures of zoroaster, egypt of greek and numidia of carthagian/berber... thats massive unhistorical and a little bit stupid...

so i made a change in the triggers for testing and let the event only fire for the new independent-region nations (adding an or-triggerlist with the q-started-tags). it seems, that it works, and the "normal" nations, civil war factions and new barbarian nations are unaffected from this mod. thats, what i want, but:

is the noculture-freeze only a problem for the independent region nations or a problem e.g. for the barbarian nations or new nations by civil wars, too? have anybody informations about this?

Thanks for the feedback mate, very good point!

It seems that the bug only occurs for breakaway regions (Qxx tags), I haven't seen it happen with barbarians.

hiho, i have the problem only when regions declare independence, it always crushes so im thinking of installing this file. is it reliable, does it have any side effects?

but we can still call it Rome Vanilla after i install this mod, right? the thing is that i dont want to try out something different, partly in fear that my current or future LAN parties wont work...
