With 1.11 final, I suddenly was having problems with fleets detecting enemies. At first it seemed to be with my subs detecting other fleets, but it expanded. It got to the point where allied subs were sinking my shipping at will between Denmark and Koningsberg, no matter how many and what type ships and planes I had there. A clean install from Steam, to 1.11, and to beta 1.12 has seemingly solved this:

Then again, maybe not. As seen here, "nofog", the planes detect, the ships do not. Both day/night, ASW patrol.

Is this "normal" now? Playing Hard/Normal.

I donnot believe that there have been any relevant changes in any of the recent versions.

Detection is a game of chance. Weather etc. influences it. I suspect that the weather modifiers for attacks are applied to detection. So a fleet not detecting another fleet is a very common occurance, especially if using smaller fleets with low total detection. If however you use 9 CV-CAG + 9 DD-ASW all at tech level 1948, than chances for detection are of course very high.

Could be. Just hadn' seen sinkings like that before -- unless I was the sinker.
