HI everyone, this is my first city in CS2 after 600 hours in CS1. I'm a big fan of cities building genre.
It's a progression of screenshot, from zero to 18k people. The theme is the european one, the seaside with skyscrapers is an ispiration from italian sea city.

I like to make cities that look like small 50k population towns with big main roads that eventually exit off into farmland...but I also want to use the higher density stuff, so I started like that and now I'm moving out to some dense stuff.

that canal is nice, and the city looks good too

Had some funny zoning issues doing this myself, so resorted to putting a pathway behind each section of row house

Closing in on 62k citizens now! Building high and medium residential, even though not apparently in demand (bad UI!) worked wonders! :D

Gonna have another mountain running perpendicular across the middle of the island to the east of where I've built up here.
Than the other side of that mountain will either be my high density or all low density suburbs and I convert what I've done here into high density. Haven't decided yet.
This hill will have low density residential in areas over it, similar to how I've done in the SS below. Far side of the mountain will probably be either low res or skyscrapers.

So at this stage I've started a city called Hyphinnea which has problems but just started making a profit after about 20k. Then I noticed some really bad traffic on my highway and a bunch of other issues and I decided to start fresh with Duncrone. This time I focussed on creating more compact neighborhoods with smaller lot sizes using large lot sizes for a purpose instead of just because there was space. Anyway I'm around 3600 pop in Duncrone and it's already in profit. I'd say that you should rush to get all the education up to college down asap otherwise you'll be stuck with only demand for low density residential and industry.
Loving this game so much hope you're all having a blast with it too!

One thing I would like to eventually do is something like a scattering of Colorado Rocky Mountain towns in probably the Mountain Village map. Did a quick and dirty attempt at a start over the past hour or so, doesn't look great but part of it is that the base North America architecture unfortunately just really doesn't look that good.

The switchback up to the cemetery ridge could be better but for a fairly quick attempt actually looks decent.

My current city is approaching 100k pops now. Which sadly has made simulation speed come to a crawl, but at least it looks quite nice (considering that it is the second one I made in CS2). All the small towns I started with have now merged together, and with the recent resurgent demand for low density I have set up a bunch of suburbs around the old city cores.

I guess my biggest take-aways from this one is how to build better looking farms (see lower left of the first screenshot) & how to handle terrain elevation (including terraforming). Also a better feeling for how large the roads have to be to deal with later stage traffic.

new city going ok, I was going to build a dam but it only wants to build backwards so instead I'm just importing power.

Also I've found the funniest street

This is my first city with about 9,000 inhabitants. I had a lot of problems with it because I had been losing financial liquidity for quite a long time. I was almost constantly in the red from milestone 6 to 8. At milestone 9, I rebounded a bit and was able to continue developing the city. I'm building on the Tampere map, which is my favorite. Currently, I have planned to create a capital in the very center of the map and a second smaller city somewhere at the edge. In the capital, I launched public transport consisting of several bus lines and two tram lines. I plan to develop a network of cities and towns.
