Poland blobs because the queen mother is Rurikovich, so when she dies they get all her Russian claims.
Yeah, it's the same reason Mauretania always expands into Spain, Hungary occasionally goes crazy in Russia, and the HRE sometimes takes Aquitaine and Norway.

Nice, lol. I like putting my dynasty taking over a country as well. In my game as the Habsburgs, the Habsburg control most of spain, britanny, wales, upper lorraine + saxony, croatia and were rulers of poland as well, till they got overthrown. The heirs to the byzantine empire are also good habsburgs, catholic and german. But i wonder how long that will last, since my dear habsburgs relatives got a bad tendency of being overthrown.

I got claims over bohemia atm, and some of my far off relatives (that are in my court), got claims on norway/sweden/novgorod+countless russian duchies, so this will be a fun game. (currently i am king of sicily and am still under the HRE banner by 1140, but gavelkind is kinda messing me around, and i dont want to start assasinating/sending sons to become bishops.)

Indeed, my eldest son has claims on one of the still surviving Spanish kingdoms, and my 3nd son (from another mother) has a claim on the Scottish kingdom. the big debate is do I go with picking apart a weak spanish muslim state and build up my Iberian land, or do I save up and try to put my 3rd son on the Scottish throne. My second son is a bit of a danger, as he is a legitimized bastard who hates my guts (-80 AFTER a gift), and he wants lands. Perhaps I can find a nice city for him to run...

  • vanilla game - no mods - no cheats - no changes
  • 1.03/1.04 game
  • catholic all the way - never heretic - never mongol - never pagan
  • no antipope
  • holding all creatable empires - holding all creatable king titles except Finland (working on it)(and yes, I got Al-Andalus)
  • game start at 1066 as Irish Duke of Munster

That's not possible...

I revoked some duchies in Al-Andalus, gave them to a Muslim vassal, spammed him with gifts (he had the necessary piety), he created the kingdom, REVOKE!

I'll need to do the same with Finland cuz my characters are all Irish, but unfortunately the dukes who hold the land are badly assigned to the necessary counties.

ps: revoking the kingdom cost me nothing because he was a "filthy infidel". i laughed out loud when i noticed that. :D

This was my very first game, and you guessed it...i played as ireland. Started as the duke of Munster and worked my up to control ireland, wales, brittany, scotland, majorca and about 35% of england. It actually extended to the duchy of castille, normandy, moravia and even paris at one point. However i gradually lost the isolated territories as more powerful kingdoms wanted them more. The last one to go was castille which i lost after my kingdom converted to Waldansianism. I was beating down my catholic vassals when mauritania decided it wanted its territory back. Since then, i regained control, and despite a holy war from england (before they were partitioned) and the HRE, I managed to keep most places intact. Also since i can now use the holy war CB i was gobbeling up parts of england and france. I thought defeating france was a good enough point to end the game even though i have another 70 years. I don't think i could ever beat the HRE or mauritania as they are now. Also being a heretic kind of reduces your diplomatic options.

This is a map showing the spread of heresy in europe. You can see the catholic and waldensian portion of spain i used to own. Theres also an odd outbreak of catharism in holy roman england.

just off map there is some residual cathar territories right next to tengri poland.

In other parts of the world, the golden horde has disintegrated into pomerania and morovia (which occupy huge areas of the step). HRE inherited norway early on. The king of norway became a very powerful vassal though, owning the majority of scandinavia, finland, karelia, saxony, most of italy and half of england. The Rus are intermitantly more powerful than the HRE or the byzantines. So powerful that when the horde arrived, they bypassed them completly and went for Doukas controlled poland.

Compared to some of the last few posters my empire looks pretty pathetic! Anyways here is my Scotland in 1328. I am still just getting started and played the vanilla version very slowly, not breaking alliances and being catholic the whole time (though I did use an antipope for a brief while after being excommunicated, whom I later installed). The big challenge here was the distance from the captiol to the other end of the empire. I used Scone as my capitol but personally held most of the Kingdom of Jerusalem to minimize rebellions there. My vassals in the middle east were actually more trouble than the muslims.

My last king is below too. This dude had 6 daughters and one son with the same woman - and I consider myslelf lucky to have the son at all. I seemed to go generations without a direct male heir.

I was a Duke of Bavaria until My liege HRE Kaiser went to war over my claim on the throne of England when my grandmother and mother died. :eek:hmy::blink::rolleyes:

Why not also get the Caliphates and Mongol empire titles?

You can definitely get them if they are still landed. I managed to get one caliphate, papacy and king of S. Turks. Stealing Titular titles from characters who have no land can be tricky though, for instance I could never get Khan of the Golden horde since I rebuffed their invasion and they never got land, even though I could matrilineally marry their heirs to me.

I know, I got the Golden Horde for a non-heir son and then the Timurids and Shia Caliphate for myself later on. Was just curious as to why he didn't when he got everything else.
