I am running an Alienware M14x-R2 laptop circa 2012 (got it from my better half when he bought a MPB, and I sold a weaker laptop).

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz
RAM: 12gb
Graphics: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000

From the comments here it seems as if I won't be able to run C:S (well or at all), though I am able to run games like SimCity (2013), The Sims 3, Banished, and Civ 5 with no graphics issues. I could have sworn there was a dedicated nVidia chip in this thing since the GeForce software was bundled with the computer. Oh well.

Welcome to the forum.
Intel card is not supported, so we don't know if or how well they work. Hopefully will we get more info about that closer to release.
Yeah, I just checked on a website for this and it said the cpu and ram were fine, but it said the gpu was a bit below min specs, hopefully it will still work though. *crosses fingers*

I looked up your laptop, and the specsheet says it comes with an nvidia 650M

Then why does Windows system info, DXdiag, and the requirements lab keep saying that I only have an integrated Intel graphics chipset? (just curious) Is it one of those things where the nVidia chip is dormant until the Intel graphics trips over and activates it?

Anywho, is a 650M sufficient for the game? Thank you!

And taht gpu is around minimum requirements
CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 @ 3,1 GHz (4 CPUs)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series
RAM: 4 GB

cpu around recommended, gpu I need more info about. Please run Dxdiag and find out exactly type of gpu you have.

Well, that's exactly what dxdiag keeps telling me. And Catalyst Control Center. I read something about CPU-Z earlier in the thread. Should I try it?
GPU-z is what you have to download and run. Its a pretty tiny executable that tells all the specifications of your card, including temperature and fan speed.
whereas CPU-z will do the same for the cpu, motherboard and memory slots.

actually, I think CPU-Z shows the GPU specs just fine, albeit less detailed.

Heyho,

CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9950 BE 2,61Ghz
RAM: 8GB DDR2
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB
Windows 7

I know, i know, almost antique.^^
I checked on www.systemrequirementslab.com and the result was that i meet the minimum requirements. But i think that my GPU doesn't support directx 11. So i'm a little bit confused.
What is your opinion about that?

Welcome to the forum
You're absolutely correct, your gpu dosen't support directX 11, so it will not run.

Thx for your quick reply. =)
Then its time for a new GPU.
Would you recommend to upgrade the entire system or will a new gpu suffice?

Your cpu is better than minimum, so for just running the game, a new gpu will be enough.
If you want a system around recommended setting, you must upgrade the entire system.
