Could we get the possibility of changing the forum skin ? I miss the CK skin from the old forum.

Custom avatars!

Any concerns regarding copy right or possible infractions regarding the forum rules? Easy solution: A custom avatar inspector. He handles all the request. He carefully checks the avatars for possible rule infringements and if you really want to play it safe demands a creative common or similar source. Et voilá, problem solved!
Don't hold your breath… they ain't coming back.

Sorry to dash your hopes but it won't happen. There are a few reasons for this but mainly the sheer number of possible issues. We have over 600000 users and even if only 1% decided to upload custom avatars, we'd have to check over 60000 6000 uploads to make sure they were in line with the forum rules. We also give out special avatars for our products (as well as if you pre-order, sign up to a campaign etc) and that would then become a moot thing to do.

So, to summarize, there are no plans to implement custom avatars.

EDIT: Math is hard on Friday mornings mkay......

Custom math instead? Not to undermine the effort but it's 6000 :p

Can be get the option for "Show only OP responses" similar to already existing "Show only DEV responses"? It would make reading AARs a lot easier :)

Very true!

In the meantime you can already achieve a similar result using the search function with options "Posted by member" [OP user name] and "Search this thread only" checked .

Then another suggestion: More smileys. The current number is rather limited and is smaller than it used to be in the old forum.

Just swung by here to suggest something (not something I do usually) and there's a whole new suggestion thread, must be the time for it :). Anyways, couple of thoughts:

Embedding Tweets

With the relatively new and growing use of twitter, it'd be handy to be able to 'embed tweets'. On twitter, it's possible to get the block:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">War overview seems to be winning the poll, but that was very even. Might need to take a look at both :3 <a href="https://t.co/GVJdFoHREG">https://t.co/GVJdFoHREG</a></p>&mdash; Dan Lind (@podcat_paradox) <a href="https://twitter.com/podcat_paradox/status/842706447129591808">March 17, 2017</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Or something that created an embed from the link to the tweet? I'm afraid it's been a long time since I helped build a website, so I'm not sure whether what I'm asking is easy or not, but if easy, could be a good thing?

lol button (like agree/disagree/helpful)

Sometimes someone will post something that's a cracker, and humour is both good for one's health, and (usually) gives forums a positive vibe - a 'lol' button for posts could encourage and reward funny people :). There is a danger it could be used to register disagreement creating confusion, but I'd expect the red X would continue in that role.

On tweets, on some other forums I use, just pasting a tweet link inside a post embeds it automagically. With PDS employees like @Wiz using Twitter actively and the forums used to discuss those, such an addition would be grand.

PS! The aforementioned forum use Xenforo.

To illustrate I personally think equivalents of
wub.gif
,
excl.gif
,
ninja.gif
,
rofl2.gif
, and
glare.gif
are missing in particular.

I don't know if it was noted when it was previously brought up, but a way of being able to navigate to other pages of group forums would be good. Currently all threads that are not the twenty most recent are inaccessible due it not being possible to see other pages.

and getting worse with every game released.
Nope; there's a hard cap of 54. You can't showcase more than 54 games/expansions at a time.

Yes, but the vast majority of users is still under this cap so its impact is very limited. You could however argue that many new users join the forum with their first paradox game, so the average number of icons per post is not actually increasing. But I am not so sure about that.

I think he does. And that would be helpful for his problem, but I'm thinking: one of the main pros of the current system is everyone can easily see if a game is registered or not and point a new user to either 1) register his/her game or 2) go to the relevant forum, without thinking on whether or not the user can actually SEE the forum in question. Perhaps, if possible, we could have a compromise? Let us only show the relevant for the sub forum icon(s)? So that in the CK2 forum, only the CK2 icons is showing.

When you say hide icons, do you mean for other users so you don't need to see them when you use the forum?

Yes.

Interesting idea.
But I just suggest to have it as an display option, similar how you can hide signatures of other users. The majority of users will continue to use the default display anyway.

Interesting ideas, both of them, though I'm somewhat unsure of how feasible it would be to build the addon we currently use to make it work. It's definitely something I will keep in mind going forward with the development of the forum though I can't say for sure it's something we will implement.
