In your opinion, what setting would be cool to see in a Vic 3 full conversion mod? I can think of a lot for games like CK2 and CK3, even Europa Universalis, but setting fitting the style of Victoria might be a little harder to find. Maybe Avatar?

Well, the anbennar mod team seems to want to make a version for vicky 3,so there's at least that. Then there's your usual scope of popular fiction mods like lotr, got, star wars, elderscrolls, etc. Past that who knows.

Medieval mods not so much, but some steampunk-y, 1800's settings would be just great. Nobody is that nerdy but I would give away a kidney for a Disco Elysium mod for Vicky 3. Also, HOI modding community seems cool, I'd like seeing alternative scenarios like TNO or Kaiserreich. Oh and also a Fallout mod probably. And maybe some of Harry Turtledove's work. There are so many possibilities

I know that I have a rather particular taste, but my dream mod would extend the game's timeline to 15 February, 1763, immediately after the end of the Seven Years' War, that way the player can experience and shape not only the victorian era, but the entire age of revolutions, in keeping with the game's themes of social upheaval and technological progress.

Plus, since it starts after the conclusion of the war, the player would be able to slowly immerse themselves into the world of the late 18th century, without having to worry about waging a full-scale war from the very beginning of the game; there would be time to build to that, and potentially change the course of the revolutions, or create an alternate Napoleonic Wars, or even prevent the Napoleonic Wars from happening through shrewd gameplay. The possibilities are endless.

It's not quite a conversion mod, but it'd definitely be a hell of a lot different from vanilla.

Not necessarily full conversion as the initial set up would be the same but Lovecraft has been brought up a couple of times! Also War of the Worlds. Maybe both in one?

Even though I don't really like Game of Thrones, I think it would make interesting setting for a mod. I'd call it "A Song of Blood and Iron", it would be set 100s of years after the books, magic is completely gone from the world and the seasons have stabilised. Without the power of the dragons the Iron Throne looses it's control over the seven kingdoms and it fragments into smaller states. The intense competition between them coupled with the discovery of gunpowder and improvements in naval technology cause them to look over seas, starting an age of imperialism similar to 16th century Europe. The mod would start a few hundred years after this, so most of Essos and the Summer Islands are under Westerosi rule and industrialisation has just started.

I like the idea

My ideal mod would actually be the reverse: one that extends the timeline out up to the present day. It would, like your idea, take a lot of effort on the modder's part, but I think that Vic3 could definitely handle WWII, and could certainly handle the Cold War better than the HOI4 timeline extension mods do. The biggest difficulties, I think, would be modeling the foreign influences towards Democracy/Communism of the Americans and Soviets, and also the effect that the Nuclear Bomb had on warfare- namely in how it made open warfare between superpowers simultaneously unthinkable and the forefront of all foreign policy due to MAD.

Vic2 has a surprisingly active mod scene for a game so old with support dropped for so long.
Big names include Napoleon's Legace, Divergence of Darkness, Cold War Enhancement, and others, so I imagine at least those would likely get ported over to Vic3 as well.

Dishonored would be cool.

Definitely a post-war / modern day mod. I can't get enough of that idea honestly. The mechanics that make this game so perfect for the Victorian era just seem like a match made in heaven for the modern era too. Plus the alternate history stuff vis-a-vis the korean war, the vietnam war, the chinese civil war, the collapse of the soviet union, the 70s-80s oil crisis, the iranian revolution, the expansion of NATO, the dirty war, etc. all feel right at home with the mechanics of Victoria 3 as theyve been revealed so far. Also, I think the possibility of a converter that can convert your HoI4 save into a Victoria 3 post-war mod save just sounds awesome and also kind of hilarious.

i imagine It would probably be absolute hell to model but id love a TC where the maps been converted to the map of a city. in it the provinces would be shops, houses and warehouses etc and the regions would be split into streets etc. In ir you would then be one of multiple organised gangs or organisations and compete with the other gangs/organisations. the trade goods system and pops of Vicky 3 would suit very well for such a setting i think.

For already established Mods however i hope HPM or something in its vein and especially Divergences of Darkness would be brought over. from other PDX games mods id love an Anbennar mod or a Kaiserreich mod.

I can see it already:

"BRAVE NEW WORLD, a Timeline Extension for Victoria 3: 1763 - 1991"

... or something like that. It would be a hot mess, but I wouldn't play anything else in all my years.

A 1945-2025 mod. Vic3 is most equipped of all the Paradox games to properly model the Cold War and the modern day. Although that's not "total conversion" per se.

For proper total conversion some sort of Dune mod would be really cool. Imagine melange being a rare luxury only found in the "Arrakis" 'state'

I favour a 1950 - 2050 modern era start for a mod, or 1948 to 2048 to line up with the "end" of HOI4.
