Dont see any discussion on this yet so figured Id ask. Are the potraits modable? Going by past paradox games I imagine they are.

Dont have the game yet myself (its on the way) but from the screenshots Ive seen so far I just had to cringe at the potrait pictures ... no offense meant to the artist(s) there who did them but as an artist myself I had to put that on my list of things to do as soon as I get the game ;) I did the same thing for all the Medieval Total War potraits too, I guess I just like putting my personal stamp on the games I play.

Check for the "Genetics" thread in the scenario & modifications subforum.

The portraits are pieced together from different body parts based on an inheritable "DNA" code, so there are no complete portraits to mod...

Ah very interesting. Could explain why some of them look so odd ;)

The question then I guess is ... are the 'parts' modable?

Aye thanks, was just reading over that thread mentioned. Cant wait to dig into those files and see what I can come up with, sounds like fun.

The difficulty will be in making any additional parts look consistent with the existing ones.

Just make the noses a little smaller. Everyone in the middle ages could not have been that ugly.

I'm sure the sculptors tried to flatter the deceased on some of the sarcophogi I have seen pictures of but some of the folks are bound to have been better looking than most of the portraits in CK. Not that the artwork is bad - just the resulting character portraits.

The problem is, by adding one extra, all the existing personas will be changed as well, but I guess that's not really a big deal.

Well, considering that none of the characters in the game have precise dna modelled to fit known portraits (i.e. they are randomly generated) I wouldn't say taht is much of a problem :)
