Could someone tell a crusader kings newbie answers to following questions:

1) What are the (main) effects of stability?
2) What are the (main) effects of prestige?
3) What are the (main) effects of piety?

As in "why would I need a high score in them?". Tried to search the forum and wiki for answers but found no complete answers...

1) Negative stability gives bad events, positive stability give good events

2) Higher prestige allows you to claim higher/more titles and it makes your vassals a bit more loyal

3) The higher your piety the quicker your reputation improves

2) Higher prestige allows you to claim higher/more titles and it makes your vassals a bit more loyal

But it does not affect the ability to create titles? Like 0 prestige ruler can still create the title "King of Sicily", if its not yet held by someone?

Creating titles costs gold and creates prestige. So can be used as an inheritable form of prestige. Bank titles if your old king has enough prestige. When his heir steps in, load him up with created titles and prestige.

How do you raise stability in this game, and what lowers it?

So far I haven't noticed any thing that encourages getting the + stability events except that it seems to happen more frequently with smaller realms. The negative stability events definitely occur if you've fallen heavily enough into debt that it takes you a few years to climb out. Sometimes you get a negative stability event simply for being at war....although it might be connected with being at war when you are already heavily in debt.

I think it is just random events that raise and lower stability .

it is not so random. many factors enter in account. like debt, war/peace, traits, loyalty problem, rebelions etc...
