Hello, I have previously reported this issue at the Paradox Interactive Help center. Once figuring out this bug is a legit problem in the game, the person assisting me (AndrewT) redirected me to this official Bug Reports forum. I also see other threads reporting the same issue that I have.

In my instance, I've built cell blocks that are made up of 2x2 cells (Only counting the area of the cell itself as show in any attachments). This is enough space for a bed and a toilet, however the prisoners/janitors when doing laundry put the prison uniforms in the wall INSTEAD of on the bed where it should be. Because of that none of the prisoners are able to change their clothing, thus constantly having a high need for new clothing. They can't ever change it because of the bug. This issue does not change when mods are disabled. I wanted to add an attachment of my prison save however I don't think it'll let me upload that type of file. I tested out a new test prison, it should be a video included in the attachments.

This is clearly a game bug and should be resolved quickly since it does affect my prison HEAVILY.

@Fifnaril are you aware of this issue?
Yeah, I have reported this issue to the devs and they are looking into what is causing it. If you have a save file for a prison where this is happening it will help us a lot to replicate the issue.

Here is the prison save, I hope it works. I also suggest the devs play around with the prison a bit because this laundry issue isn't the only bug I whiteness while playing Prison Architect.

Thanks.

That's weird, I tried to send the prison save file, don't think it'll let me do that however. I published the prison through steam workshop, find it there.

You'll need to zip up the save file to attach it here.

I’ve had the same issue! They keep putting the uniforms in the walls right by the bed. At first I thought it was the soft pillows that were on the beds that were maybe pushing the uniforms into the wall but I removed them and it kept happening. I have no mods so I’m not sure. I think it is the newest dlc as this is my first prison with the new dlc and it’s the first time this issue arose.

I ran into this problem and the one way that I saw that fixed it is by placing the beds in front of the doors with the legs pointing towards the exit, it allows for the uniforms to become available.

Same issue.

Guys, this needs to be fixed last week.

A prison that should be a Nordic reform school is on the cusp of the downward spiral to riots.

This issue appears to be associated with Room Type Cells. I have a Dorm with bunk beds and the laundry is left on the bed as historically the game did. However the Room Type: Cell with a standard bed has the laundry placed in the wall. The prisoners working the laundry and the janitors walk through the wall when they place it. Dump the uniform to make it go away and the next set is placed back in the wall with the prisoner/janitor walking through the solid wall after placement.

Additional data, changing room type from 'Cell' to 'Dormitory', dumping the faulty laundry does not fix the issue. Next set of laundry is dropped in the wall with prisoner/janitor walking through wall when dropping off. Bed is still single normal for the bugged cell/dorm. But the dorms originally built for SuperMax only with bunkbeds still receive laundry to the bunk beds correctly.

So I found a way to correct the bug. 2x3 floor space with toilet, shower, bookshelf, and mirror/sink. Must change Room Type to: Dormitory, remove the Sink/Mirror and leave the empty square next to the bed. The bed must also be Bunk bed type. Change the bed, open the floor space, and change room type; do all of this and then dump the uniform in the wall. 2 clean sets of prison uniforms are delivered to the bunk bed and bud is fixed. Attaching the save showing the fix. Room Type: Cell with single with open space is bugged. Room Type: Dormitory with single bed and open space is bugged. Room Type: Dormitory with bunk and open space reverts to working correctly. fully used single bed cell is bugged, fully used dorm with single is bugged, fully used dorm with bunk is bugged. Changing deployment type between prisoner types made no difference. only the dorm, bunk, with open space next to bunk worked as intended.

I am still seeing all this comments but has no one read my comment above? ( I ran into this problem and the one way that I saw that fixed it is by placing the beds in front of the doors with the legs pointing towards the exit, it allows for the uniforms to become available. ) all you need to do is to place the bed facing the door , the pillow to the wall. the feet must not be pointing any wall. that's all, don't overcomplicate it.

Confirmed solution:

If the foot of the bed faces the door, the uniform is accessible. The size of the room does not affect this.
Thank you very much, and my apologies for missing this first time.

Can confirm this bug still exists, and has persisted through the last two updates. It is infinitely reproduceable on any save or new prison. Any vertically placed bed sets the delivery location for laundry to the tile in front of the foot of the bed, which due to cell sizes and layouts in most prisons this is a wall. Dorm or Cell classification does not matter. So as of right now you can only use horizontal beds or the laundry systems cease to function.

On top of this bug, laundry seems to function extremely poorly compared to all previous versions of the game. Whether this is because of the bug or the system itself is beyond my scope of knowledge, worst performance is seen in dorms.

The laundry bug was never fixed. I have built a small cell block with only 16 prisoners. 16 janitors are idle, four prisoners are working in laundry. None of the cells get a fresh uniform and all 16 prisoners desperately want this need fulfilled. The suggested fix above does not work, as you can see in the screenshot.
