I've installed this game before, but I uninstalled it a while ago. When I tried to reinstall it this time, it would get to the file copying stage, but once it reached two minutes to go and the file "...Hearts of Iron\music\553115-02.mp3", it says that I have a corrupt file and cannot install. This is strange, because as I've said I've installed this game before and it worked fine. I am running Windows XP. Any ideas?

You are installing from the CD, right, this is not a patch you are trying to install?

What is the drive letter of your CD-rom?

Did you follow the uninstall directions found in the self help sticky thread? If not please try that and then reboot and try a fresh install.

Also need to know what publisher version you have.

Yes, this is a fresh install from CD, not a patch.
My CD-ROM drive letter is D.
I did follow the uninstall instructions, and I received the same error message at the same file.
Publisher is Strategy First (or is it Paradox? Both names are on my CD).

Okay I would suggest cleaning the CD, you can try some windex and a clean cloth.
It could be that you have some fingerprints or some dirt on it.

If it is scratched you will have to contact Strategy First for a replacement.

So that's what you think it is? Just the CD being scratched? Weird...

Edit: Just tried cleaning CD, and got same message at same file. Here is exact error message, if it helps:

"An I/O error occured while installing a file. This is normally caused by bad installation media or a corrupt installation file."

Well that is what the error is saying as well.

I would contact SF support and see what they say about a possible replacement.

Or if you want to double check, do you have access to another computer, say a friends that you could try and install it on.
If you get the same error than you can be pretty confident that it is a bad disk.
