Problem runing after 1.09 NA update

I have a 1.07c version cd. When I install and run the game it works fine except for the known bugs. After I update it to the V1.09 NA version the game doesn't start. All I get is the safedisk logo and then it just drops back to desktop and never starts. I tried the following things: setting my cd cache to different size, turning off all of the programs running in the background, and disabling my antivirus protection. None of those things helped. I e-mailed the support at Strategy First, but all they came up with is disabling antivirus programs, I tried that and it didn't help. What else can I do? My system specs:

P3 533
128 RDram
Voodoo 3 latest drivers
windows 98 SE
HD space 8gigs free

Thanks for any kind of help.
 
Also, I e-mailed Strategy First support, they recommended disabling my antivirus program. After I did that and it didn't help I e-mailed them again, no response, so I e-mailed them 3rd time today and still no response. They are just flat out ignoring me. Great customer support on their part, never buying a game with their logo on the box again, and to think I was thinking about buying empire of ants.
 
OK, try this: uninstall the game, defrag your hard disk, then reinstall it and the patch. If that doesn't help, see if it runs better by using the No Music option from the Start menu - if that helps, you have a problem with your sound drivers, or shortage of ram.

You might also check on your directx installation and your video drivers.
 
Ok, sorry about that. I just recieved an e-mail from support. It contains some kind of file that they say should help. Well, the defrag, cleaning of the hard drive and everything didn't help so I hope this file will. I think it's all because of the safedisk, the logo looks different then from v1.07 so something in it must have been changed. Oh well, going to go try that file now.
 
They have send me a 1.08 patch. This is a little better but I am playing fantasia game and that infernal noise that starts at about 1654 is making in impossible to play. I read somewhere in this forum that there's a new patch in progress. Does anyone know when that patch is going to be out, and what are the chances that it will work on my computer since the v1.09 patch doesn't?
 
The new patch will be out around the 1st week in September. I am reasonably confident that it will work with Safedisk as the 2 companies do communicate with each other :)
