I have HoI2:Doomsday Armageddon with Windows XP and all compatibility issues done.

The problem is the next:I can't open the game because I edited files in the config folder.I have some backups but when I start it when putting back the backups it says the same thing(To find this out I used start menu-run...-HoI2.exe because it doesnt open the normal way)

The game isn't patched,so that's my question,should I:

1.Uninstall the game

2.Patch the game

3.Ask about some files/an utilitary that can help me an solve this problem.

Thanks for any help.

1. Yes, uninstall the game. Do it as described here: uninstall link
2. Reinstall the game, then patch it to 1.2 version of DD-ArmA.
3. There is no utility that can auto repair your modding. That is what a good back up would have done*.

*Once you have the game reinstalled and working in an un-modded state, you should make a usable backup before you attempt any more modding. This will save you future headaches. Easiest way to backup game is to use Windows explorer and copy and paste your install (e.g. programfiles\paradoxgames\doomsday) to safe place. Safe place could be your desktop where game backup is, for example, backup\doomsday, or maybe a 2g usb flashdrive, or DVD-R. When you want to mod the game, don't do it to the installed version, rather do copy and paste to MyMod\Doomsday and make your mods there - not directly to the good installed version. :)
