Problem with choppy play

I have some trouble that I couldn't find in a search here. I install the game and everything plays fine - I put the counter mods I want in and everything - no problem. It's all smooth. But then when I try to continue the game again after quitting and saving for the day, it will load very slowly and then my cursor is no longer smooth - it's choppy and jumps around the screen when moved instead of sliding smoothly - the map scrolls choppy too. My only solution is to reinstall (click repair) the game to get it running smoothly again - then I have to readjust all my game settings and do my mods before starting - it's a big pain. I don't see how it could be anything to do with my system being inadequate because it works fine after first install. Anybody have any ideas? Thank You.

I'm just doing the CORE mod that came with the new HOI platinum install disk, along with historical flag, shield, and counter changes from stony road. It runs fine the first time I run it. It's just after I turn my computer off for the night and back on the next day - then the play is choppy.

Uninstall everything, just play Vanilla HOI (with latest patch)
If you can load the save and not have it choppy, then add CORE, if you can then play and then load it and play the save with no problem, then keep adding one mod at a time.
