Problem with Patches and mods

I am new, and when I tried to update my Rome Gold patch, all it gave me was 1.3, while the offical one is 2.2, so I think I am lost.

In addition, I tried to download Lofmod, but I cannot play it. What do I have to do?
Please help out a newbie, who really likes this game.

Also, regarding Patch 1.3, I think it makes my game crash more then before. Is there anything I could do to fix this?

Ask about mod installation in the User Mods forum.

If you somehow installed the 1.3 patch over Rome:Gold you have broken the game, and must start again. First move any valued save games elsewhere. Then uninstall the game, and then manually delete the game directory - this is important. Reinstall Rome:Gold - choose a new directory like c:\games\rome instead of the suggested path. Then apply the 2.2 patch over Rome:Gold, making sure it goes into that same new directory so as to overwrite the old files.

Are you saying you don't know how to delete a file or directory in Windows? Basically you double-click on My Computer, and navigate through the file system to the location of the directory, highlight it and hit the delete key. The default location is something like c:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Rome\, and if you have Vista or Win7 there is also some files in c:\users\[name]\appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Rome\. If you use a Steam or Impulse version they'll be elsewhere.
