Problems installing patch

I have what looks like version 1.07b and am trying to install the v1.09 patch. When I try to do so, it starts the installshield wizard, but then tells me I don't have EU installed on my pc and that the installation will abort. I made sure I downloaded the North American update & not some other one. What do I do??
I remember seeing an FAQ or post or something on this subject but for the life of me I cannot find it.

According to the intro video, it's Blackstar. And yes, it's in English

Try the Benelux download.
 
Patching 1.07b

I think I have the same original version 1.07b from Blackstar.

When I run one of the patches, the patching process seems to work OK. However, when I then try to start the game again, there's an error message EU CD not in drive, which is very obviously not true.

I am not 100 % sure I tried the Benelux version of the patch, so I'll try again with that one.

What's that comment about uninstalling EU first ? The correct order is, am I right ?
1) Uninstall EU. Where would the registry keys be kept ?
2) Install EU from the CD again.
3) Run the patch.

Dont worry about the keys - if you uninstall corrrectly (and not by just deleting files) then you will be ok.
You definately have the Blackstar version so the Benelux patch will be ok.
The order you gave is OK.
The reason to uninstall is because you have tried several patches and files may have been changed.

The NA Patch is for the Strategy First Distribution.
The Benelux is for the Blackstar Distribution.

There was a distribution cock up!(To cut a long story short!)
EU2 in NA will be Distributed by Strategy First - accept no substitutes!
