I love this game, or at least i would love this game if i could play it properly.
The (potential?) awesomeness of this game make me more angry for the fact that it has so much problems that i can't enjoy it completely.
Apart from the freeze/slowdown bug that is widely discussed on this forum and is keeping me from playing the cooler scenarios, there are a lot of bugs and/or imperfections and/or non-intuitive things in the interface (it's often hard to distinguish between them) that seriously cripple the playing experience. I will list them in random order, maybe someone can explain me how to circumvent some of them and i hope others are going to be fixed.
- Often when you start a mission and you have some planes already in air, the "return to base" button is deactivated, so the plane can't return to the base and refuel
- Often when a plane is targeting an enemy and you order it to return to base, it won't accept the order. sometimes setting it to another destination and then setting it to return to base it helps, sometimes not. I don't know if this behavior is intended because a plane that is targeting another plane is "helping" the missile to trace the target, but the result is annoying
- If you have a several groups of missiles, all close together, flying towards a unit and you want to intercept them, often you will fire all missiles to one of the groups. Not only is difficult to practically click on the other group, but it's also difficult to use the right amount of missiles for each group, since your AA missiles wont target the other group if the first is destroyed even if they are really close (while they apparently target another target in the same group). This doesn't really makes sense. Also this makes the AI a lot more efficient in defending a ship convoy from several volleys of missiles.
- In the default mode units are supposed to fire the "right amount" of missiles to a specified target. It's weird that a group of 6 F35 with 12 anti ship missiles considers 'the right amount' firing only 6 of them to a russian naval group with 100+ AA missiles. Also if i take of from an airport giving a target they will attack this target in default mode, so if i want to say "take off, close to the ships, and unload all upon them", i've to order them to take off giving a "go to order", open the combat menu, select "fire all" and only then giving them the target. this is annoying.
- I never found a way to "rebase" an aircraft to a new airport/ship. This annoying in missions where an airbase is clearly in better position
- I can't understand how much fuel is still available in a "refuel" aircraft, this is annoying because it gets aircraft lost.
- It would be useful to be able to split / merge units in groups dynamically. Also the interface often doesn't make very clear what you precisely have selected at the moment.
- It would be useful for fighters in "close in and engage" mode to be able to set a distance, maybe a fraction of the actual range of the weapon, to fire to the target.
Oh, and also, F22 can carry only 6 AA missiles internally and F35 only two. How comes that they are completely stealth, far more than a T50 not to mention some low radar profile planes like eurofighter and super hornet, even with 8 AA missiles?!?! This way not only F22 and F35 are tremendously overpowered, but there's no advantage of f22 over f35.
