Problems with installing 1.1

When I try to install the patch it claims the game is not installed despite the fact it runs fine unpatched. I did not install the game in its recomended directory the first time but I did reinstall where it told me to a second time and the problem still exists. Exact text: Hearts of Iron 2 is not installed on your computer. Please install the game before installing the update. The installation will now exit."

Any ideas? Thanks.
 
I do in fact have drive partitioning. My OS is located on a 6 gig partition of my main Game/Data HD (120 gigs total). I dont' know how that would be a problem though I get the same problem after installing to the OS partition as to the storage partition. Is there some sort of problem with paritioning and games?
 
There shouldn't be. Your system should keep tracks of what is where. It can go awry if you add a drive later or change the partition.

However, in that case you should have noticed the same problem with other games.

Leaving that possibility for now, let me ask you which folder you put the patch in? (it should be in the game folder where the hoi2.exe is).
 
Since the patch is self extracting where you "put" the patch is irrelevant, and whether you have a partition is irrelevant, and where you installed it to is irrelevant except as where it may mess up the original registry entry.

This is a problem with the registry entry for the game.
Look at the entry for HOI2 and see what the path is, edit it to the actual path where the game is installed, you can use regedit for this.
 
Well I checked the regestry and it seemed fine so I uninstalled, deleted all paradox regestry entrys, restarted and then reinstalled but it still has the same problem, I don't think there are any ghosts left on this thing as I did delete the folders manually as well before the reinstall.

Is this thread referring to a patch for Hearts of Iron 2 (as opposed to Heart of Iron)? We can't even get this game in retail stores (like Electronics Boutique) here in the U.S. yet and there's a patch already? I wish that I had a copy of the game to patch. Just curious.

It should be in your stores.
It would be pretty funny if we were discussing patch 1.1 for HOI1 which came out more than a year ago in the HOI2 support forum . ;)

What happens if you try to reinstal the game without first uninstalling it?
Does it say that the game is already installed?

Otherwise there would be no need of a 1.1 patch. ;)

Well glad that got sorted, since the registry was obviously good, that was the last thing that could have been wrong.

What patch are you referring to????? Is there already a patch -- it would appear so. If so, where can it be obtained? That's all I want to know.

Thanks. I did happten to spot it a while ago in the General Discussion area. That's pretty sly calling it an enhancement instead of a patch. When you call it an enhancement instead of a patch you're saying that things were improved instead of being broken and in need of a fix. Oh well, now it would be nice if I could actually get my hands on a copy of the game.
