Problems with Loading Saved Games

Everytime i save a game, and then return to it later (maybe the next day, or whenever), the game loses the VP that i have accumulated in the previous sessions.

Is this normal, or am i being stupid.
I've tried reinstalling, and running the 1.09 patch (which i may have had installed anyway from the CD).

I've looked at the FAQ's and can't see anything that says anything about this, apart from someone said that the game doesn't save unimportant data.

It's very annoying, as i've managed (as Poland-Lithuania) to annex Hungary, the germanic countries up to France/Netherlands, and taken a few provinces from Russia and am about to annex Venice as soon as i can get peace with his ally. Nobody would like me, but i keep bribing them.

Do u have them turned on ? Sometimes people play, get messages of "that many VPs accumulated" but seeing they aren't turned on, it gets stuck at 0.

I thought that but then noticed that he uses patch 1.09 that fixed it.
Strange...... unless he turned them off.....

Redrod - when you start the game make sure that "Base Victory Points" is turned on. Unfortunately you cannot alter the option once the game has started without starting all over again.

Yeah you were right, i had the victory points switched off, and now can't switch them back on in that game.
Duh!

Which is annoying as i'm doing quite well, don't really know how as because it was my first game, i declared war with russia, france, austria. Which must have dropped my stability right down.
But it isn't at the current time in the game (i'm playing as Poland) and i've managed to get to about 1730's or so (of course everybody hates me - but thats mostly due to the number of annexations i've done thru' war (Hungary, Venice, and most of the germanics up to Netherlands and France, basically one big red blob from moscow to france and from denmark to turkey).

You are doing well.
Personally I do not play with the VPs on at all.
I set my own target(s) for a win and work towards that.
As its your first game then go to the end treating it as a tutorial.
Make the next one the "real" one....with or without VPs.
