Since a friend and I have upgraded to the newest beta, it seems direct IP for MP games no longer works (says it can't find the game when we KNOW the IP is correct). And now with V-Net being down this week, we can't play our game. Does anyone know a fix?

All MP issues in the MP forum, please and thank-you.

Sure, was'nt sure where to post this, as it kinda concerned several issues.....thanks.

Yes, I've seen that thread, no help. We are tying in the the IP EXACTLY, with NO SPACES after it. Both of us have confirmed that direct IP works FINE in NORMAL game. Also works FINE with AGCEEP. But when the newst beta is installed, WHAM! Game locks up when we try to play direct IP.

We've confirmed we have the same version and it's the 'official' Paradox one. We can play just fine in V-Net. But since it's down right now we were looking to play in direct IP. Only it seems the newest beta and direct IP don't like one another. Problem is, our current MP game uses the beta and the new AGCEEP version. :(

Any ideas?

and you deleted the extra space after the ip adress using the newest beta?

You say you are using the same version. In the newest beta, there is a checksum id code as part of the version stamp, reported as a four-letter code at the end of the version. If those four letters don't match, you aren't compatible. They can vary depending upon other intervening installations of the game.

KJ told us about those blank spaces... you have to check for them before you enter the IP address... you can notice them by when you enter the Internet menu, the "join" button is lighted on... then you clic on the square where you enter the address y clic delete.. now the "join" button is grayed... then, you can enter the IP address and voilá! :D

Yes, we have the same checksum. I know that with the new beta there is a four letter code at the top left of the screen on the main menu. We made sure we had the same letters. And if we DID'NT have the same letter we would'nt have been albe to play in V-Net....we had to reinstall several times before both of us finally got the same version.

About the IP address....I checked and sure enough, if you put the cursor into the Enter IP Box and hit Delete, the Join box goes away.....but this was never a problem with eariler versions. Is this a bug with the newest beta? If so, why has'nt it been more widely reported.....like somewhere where I could find it so we have'nt wasted the last two nights? ;)

When my friend comes online tonight we'll try it out....thanks.

Well, since we rarely play via IP, it is indeed not widely known. Also, no one thought that it was a wide problem that concerned everyone.

Well, I can understand that, since we normaly play V-Net. It was only when we found it was down and we tried IP that the problem was found. It's all water under the bridge by now, though. Thanks again guys. :)
