I have a technical problem that I need your help with please.

Game Version & Patch (incl. publisher): Paradox Entertainment - preorder from e-butik: problem occured in both 1.02 and 1.04a (did not try patches inbetween)

OS & build/SP: WinXP SP2 5.1 build 2600

Computer, CPU & speed: AthlonXP 1700+

RAM: 768Mb

Free HDD space: 118Gb free on HDD that CK resides on, 3.5Gb on disk on which OS resides.

Video (brand, model, driver, memory): NVIDEA GeForce Ti4200 driver: 6.1.1.7 128Mb

Sound (brand, model, driver): Creative Labs SB Audigy driver: 5.12.5.441

DirectX Version: 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

Other: attached devices: Logitech MX510 optical mouse, Videologic ZXR-550 5.1 Surround speakers, Microsoft Sidewinder 2 Force Feedback Joystick.

I read the stickies but I still have the following problem:
A few months ago a strange error developed in my copy of CK - it could not find the 'province.csv' file.
At that point I could not readily lay my hands on the CD (I was constantly moving between different addresses so other things took priority) so I did nothing about it.
However reading about the newer patches I decided to have another go.
I tried repairing the installation of CK but this did not fix the problem, so I de-installed my copy of CK and then re-installed it, patched it to 1.04a and everything went fine for a couple of games - then the problem reoccured.
I have checked the HDD that CK is residing on and the OS has reported no errors on it.

So you install the game, you can play a few times, including turning the system off, start the game again and load in a save and continue the game fine, then after doing this a few times you all of a sudden get an error message. Then you can never play again, you continue to get the error message. Is that correct?

Do you run Mircrosoft Office or MS Excell?

Did you install to the default drive and directory?

When in the loading process does this error appear?
What is the exact wording of the message?

Yes

Yes, a lot, although usually not at the same time i'm running (or attempting to run) CK.

No, I installed to D:\Crusader Kings

As soon as I click on the CK icon
"Error loading - file province.csv missing" (I went and checked - it's still there)

Does the registry entry for CK have the correct path?
