My friend posted in the main thread, but I assume this is supposed to go here.

I bought Rome from Gamestop and then bought the expansion through Gamersgate. He bought his through Steam. We cannot, for the life of us, get the game to work properly online since it's technically "two different versions." Anyone have any idea how this is supposed to work?

And yes, I tried downgrading my own version.

As I said in the main forum, I've reported this to Paradox, but they're all on leave of course. It's really a business issue between them and Steam, not a game bug per se.
