I'm having a blast with the game but I'm confused as to how the game is calculation production of resources. I have a colony of 50 people which were being fed by two hydroponic towers and a farm. Hovering over the resource tab my food consumption was two and production nine. A short while later I noticed it had flipped to production zero, consumption ten. I checked and everything was working. Just in case I put down a fungal farm but nothing changed at first. Now though production is thirty-two and consumption nine.

This constant changing of the numbers is a bit confusing and unhelpful. I'm guessing it's because food batches are semi-random as to how good the yield will be but it makes it hard to know if food production is in the positive or negative. Anyone else had a problem with this?

The resources shown is the average of the last Sol. It is writen in the panel. Of course this does not help much to know the average production when you have farms that produce over multiple Sol.

Food production and consumption was probably the most confusing thing for me in my play session last night. I felt like I had no idea at what rate the colonists were consuming food, and I had no way of knowing if the food production I had made for them would be sufficient.

Also, if a Sol is supposed to be a combination of a day/night cycle and a full year, then it doesn't really make sense that it would take 4 Sols (!) to grow some food.
