I’ve been a Cities player for quite some time and purchased Cities Skylines II during the pre-order phase with the Ultimate package, very excited about the new features following the huge success of the first game. However, after the release and the many issues that came with it, I ended up stepping away from the game even after about eight months of playing due to numerous bugs and a lot of frustration.

What disappointed me the most were recurring problems like the homeless issue and industrial bugs (which, by the way, appeared right in the middle of vacation, when I most wanted to enjoy the game). And now, after all this time, I still see that basic problems remain.

Currently, one of the biggest issues is driver behavior many vehicles make illegal turns, often right in the middle of highways, causing massive traffic jams. I can’t help but wonder: after all this time, couldn’t more attention have been given to fixing this? It’s incredible how a single illegal turn can block an entire highway when traffic is heavy.

I’m genuinely saddened to see that, even with so many updates and community feedback, issues like this still persist. Is it really that hard to fix something like this?

Apologies for the rant I say all this with frustration, but also with a genuine hope to see the game reach the potential we were all looking forward to.

Use one of the traffic mods and remove the u-turn marker on those road nodes. It's the best you can hope for right now, if you want to keep the road layout like in the picture... or put in a road with a median... or create two separate one-way roads in each direction (so cars can't do u-turns) or put in a dedicated left hand turn that goes under/over the pass there.

The problem is a bad designed route from the game perspective. If you want to force cars going in only one direction, it's not a problem, i do it all the time, but the game, well, the cims, want to take the other route, then exploit the possibility to do U turns.

As Martin said, you can achieve your goal of 1 way route, creating a separated highway or a road with a median. That would be better than using mods that will affect all your city and not that particular spot.

Also, have in mind that the game is telling you that some people want to go to the other way and they can't, so you can add a return or a secondary ramp to reach the other way of the road.

Since I'm giving advice, I will continue. You merge 2 lanes from the ramp + 1 lane from the highway (3 lanes to 1). You can split the ramp, one lane to merge the highway in the same way, and the other lane to merge the highway in the other side (that will prevent U turns). Also, convert the 2 way 2 lane highway in a 2 way 3 lane asymmetric so there is room for cars to merge smoothly (the cars from the ramp+the cars from the highway) and do the same in the exit of the second ramp in the other side of the road (1+1=2) . Not more than 100 meters each side but not less than 60 meters. That will make the traffic smooth and prevent U turns.

I saw you have the game in Spanish, I can explain in Spanish, but not here, hit me a DM if you want.

Cheers

To be honest, that traffic thing is not a bug, so there is no need for fixing - if at all it could be improved but in the end it's a game feature.

Looking at the screenshot I have to agree with what was told before - it's basically some bad road design at least in the screenshot.

Your virtual residents seem to have a need to make a left turn there without a nearby way to do so, so they take the bitter pill (as travel costs are increased by doing so) and make an illegal turn instead as their last resort. Offering them a way to make that turn nearby will most likely ultimately fix this.

Regarding the other issues mentioned: I don't see an incredibly large homeless issue on my end since the last patch, it's somewhat around 0.1% of homeless on my current city. Industry also seems to work at least fine - only offices are somewhat bugged.

Depending on how long you did not play it might take some time for things to adjust if you skipped some patches before playing again.

It is a game design issue and needs to be addressed. But given everything, I wouldn't ever expect them to address it. They do u-turns, even if they have reasonable alternatives, this is well documented.

You not having the homeless issue, does not mean the issue does not exist. In fact, if you go through recent threads, you will find several other users complaining about it.

Keep reporting it in bug section. Especially when it's notorious behavior when the vehicles have alternative routes available nearby. Posting it here won't do anything, not a single person from CO/PDX looks here.

Hmm, looks like the text I wrote was not good readable - maybe I can fix this...

↑ Please point me to where I tell that something is not existing in general if you claim so.

Also I can go to a thread where all (20 out of the maybe 2000 Cities Skylines forum users maybe of which a fraction is more or less regularly active) say they have the issue and all persons that don't see it don't post as they don't have it - but I'm not sure what this should tell me. In fact I know already that some see/feel/have an issue in these regards and they are free to report that. It still doesn't invalidate that illegal U-Turns and homelessness are actual features of the game, just like jaywalking which may need careful adjustments to their rules to scale properly between a 30 and 3M residents city according to feedback provided.

If you don't want to read that others don't see an issues you see and as thus the issue is not a general one please don't use an official forum - it will not be good for your mood :)
