Is there any differences in purchasing the download version from Amazon versus somewhere like GG/Steam? I am not talking about the download process and stuff since I am well aware of what is required of Steam and GG but more about:

1) Is the amazon version easy to patch and uses the same patch as the others?
2) When patches are released, are they immediately available to the Amazon version?
3) When expansions come out, would you have to buy them from Amazon or could you buy them from the other providers, etc?

Thanks!

I've never bought a Paradox game through Amazon (although I have bought a couple of other games from them), but I would assume that once the game is downloaded/installed, it should behave like it would from any other download provider. Once a new patch is available, you should be able to download it from the forum or elsewhere and install it without a problem.

Thanks, I appreciate the response. I think may main concern would be future expansions. Guessing steam wouldn't work with it, but possibly GG would since they use a stand-alone install process. Of course unless Amazon gets the expansions too:)

I've heard of a couple of people buying Paradox games through amazon. I have no personal experience, all I can say is that there seem to be no glaringly obvious tech support requests coming from the amazon game people.

I have actually bought a number of games from Amazon and actually like the service itself. It is somewhat similar to GG because you can copy the setup for future installs and does not require any client software. So I have no issue at all with Amazon's service and I can see it getting bigger. More of my issue is the compatability of their downloads with expansions, however that may be an unwarranted concern if Amazon ultimately sells the expansions as well. My assumption would be that paradox wouldn't use a selling agent that would pigeon hole them from expanding. I just wanted to make sure if I bought from Amazon and they didn't get any expansions, would I be able to buy from GG and use without issue. But since no expansion currently exists, probably just a guessing game:)

Yeah, using Steam for any future expansions would be out of the question unless you wanted to buy the base game again through Steam, but downloading an expansion from GG or elsewhere shouldn't cause any problems.
