History
Some legends say he come from the sky, others that his mother was human but his father divine. Whatever his origins he came from the centre of Scandinavia and by Year 34 AT (After Thor) he had united the peoples of Scandinavia under his hammer. By 40 AT his rule had solidified and all of Northern and Central Europe was his for the taking, yet when the Great Scandinavian Host marched south a huge stone fell from the sky and landed on top of the Great King who miraculously survived (It was actually not even close to him but as only his Chief Minister saw it rumors quickly swept through the Host). After this Great Miracle the Kingdom of Jamtland withdrew within itself improving the lives of its citizens until, in 1492 AT Thor LXI grew restless and took the Greatest ship in the whole fleet and travelled West until he arrived at a land he named Iceland before finding another land that was much colder that he named Greenland (He had an odd sense of humor). After a long voyage further West the Great King discovered a New World he named America (After his best friend’s wife’s friend). He continued up a river until he arrived at an island he named Mount Odin and constructed a Grand Palace (tiny hut) around which he created the city of Thorstad (Thor City).
Realising that the Jamtland’s future lay in this Huge land the Great King slowly began to pacify and convert the natives while more and more Jamtlanders came to live there until eventually they reached the far coast and began securing the new land.
Meanwhile in the Homeland the lack of a King for so many years left much power in the hands of the Chief Minister who usurped much of the Kings old powers. When he returned from Vinland Thor found he had little power left, civil was looming until the Chief Minister proposed a compromise making Thor President of the new Republic of Jamtland (effectively King) as long as he gave up his power and agreed to let the people of Jamtland vote on their Chief Minister (renamed Prime Minister). Thor agreed and so the Republic of Jamtland was born.
The Republic continued the expansion projects improving technology and soon an arms race began with Britain which only ended after the battle of Jutland resulted in a crushing naval defeat for the British while in Vinland the Battle of Thorstad saw the huge British army smashed and the siege of Thorstad lifted. The enmity continued however and to this day Jamtlander-British relations remain poor.
