Q re different versions and patches

I can get the game on Steam and GOG and Gamersgate
but I am wondering about patches etc

Are any of the above mentioned versions fully patched?
Or do I have to use registry fixes etc and find and apply patches?

Ideally I want one download that is fully patched to the final version
is there sucha thing?

If you have only CK1 without its expansion Deus Vult, then its 1.05 :

If your CK1 comes already with Deus Vult, and it usually does nowadays, then 2.1beta (Oct 2008 variant) :

I don't know if these versions are fully patched. I guess so.
Have a look at the version number in the main menu.

I got the GOG version and it is 2.1 beta on the main menu
Doesnt say anything I can see about Oct 2008 variant
or maybe you mean that 2.1 beta is the Oct 2008 variant

Yes, there are/were several variants of 2.1beta, as you can see in the thread i linked.

BUt this should be fine.
No patching required.

I highly recommend the IamWhoas'SFX sound mod, as it makes the COA click and the catapult sound bearable and of course the overhaul mods as DVIP or TASS or Before the Conquest.

Yes I remember when I first played it years ago I had to replace the catapult sound...
That was before Deus Vult
