A webcam would be "nice" to have as it is so much better to see one another when talking. On the subject of salery I can't disclose anything here unfortunatly, but we are above the standard when it comes to QA in the games industry in Sweden. And since it is located in Sweden, the salary will be paid out in swedish krona.

mmk no worrys, might have to into buying a webcam if you guys want an skype interview LOL :D

:D I would say wait with spending money until you hear from the recruiters that there will be an intervju taking place.

Let me put it this way, if someone sent an really nice application AND stated they had 3000 hours clocked in one of our games, I would be more interested in that kind of application than one from say a game development student that might know how the work is done, but has little to no experience in our games.

You shouldn't have said that. You've ensured my disappointment if I don't hear back from you guys. Hah. :D

On that note, is there any estimated time between applications and responses? Of course these things cannot be estimated very precisely, but just knowing if it's counted in days, weeks or months is valuable information, certainly for those who have to contend with the possibility (however remote) of needing to plan in an out of country trip at an unspecified future date.

Well.. let me just say that the ones handling the recruitment are in full swing already. I think they stated they would look at people in Sweden first, and then get in touch with people living abroad. I would presume some applicants not in Sweden should be contacted this week or next (hopefully). But if you applied and do not get any answer during this time, it does not mean anything, as I know they will get back to everyone that applied even if they whether or not they feel said person is suited for the job.

That's a relief. Belgian authorities are quite strict on the unemployed being able to proof that they are actively trying to find a job. You wouldn't believe how many companies here just ignore you if you don't qualify. No e-mail, no phone, nothing. Good to know that you guys are not like that.

Would this position offer the chance to move onto the development team for future projects? I would totally be willing to move to the other side of the world if it meant I could see my ideas implemented in Victoria III.

Some QA people have moved on to be scripters in other projects, but it is an exception rather than a rule. QA is a specific skill set, so if you feel that QA is not for you it can be frustrating to be "stuck" in QA.

On the other hand, if your mindset fits, being in QA can be very rewarding!

Slightly unrelated to the topic, but does Paradox take student internships ? And in which areas ?

QA sounds fun but is there any chance of having the cake and eating it too by doing different kinds of work?

Just to inform you all, the job ad has now been taken down as the amount of applicants we've received for the position/s have been overwhelming. The recruitment team are in full swing sending mail to interested applicants. I can also inform you all that you will get a response even if there isn't anything we can offer for you at this moment.

I would like to thank you all for showning your interest in joining our fun family here at Paradox, and for those of you that sent an application, I wish you the best of luck!

Regards,
Mr. Nibbles
