I'm curious, given that the QE class carrier is already to be included in the game... will the model included take into account the recent changes to the ships design announced by the British government? (The class has been changed from ski-ramp to catapult launch which will radically alter the shape of the ship and deck layout)

Old layout:

New layout (note no ski-ramp and inclusion of angled runway):

That's great to hear, thanks very much for the reply. It will be wonderful to see the two new carriers when I purchase this game. :)

Also, will the planned British Type 26 frigates be included in the 2030 British Royal Navy? Sorry for these questions, I appreciate how frustrating things like this can be for developers.

The Type 26 frigates as well as Type 45 destroyers (Darling) are certainly on our top list of units to include. It creates an interesting tactical challenge to have highly specialized surface combatants. Multi-purpose units are boring from a game design point of view :)

I appreciate your understanding. We really try to tell you guys everything we reasonably can.

Baker,

We haven't fully determined yet what units will be in it, but we are most likely to leave out classes that are expected to have been retired before 2030. We'd love to have them all, but we have a budget we have to keep. But, then, there is modding. And there is downloadable content later. So don't give up hope!

The first main section, lower block 03, has been completed for the first carrier!

The 8000 tonne section of the carrier - one of many such sections being built around Britain - will leave the shipyard in Glasgow, to sail on one of the worlds largest barges around the north coast of Scotland to Rosyth (where the carriers are to be assembled) in mid August.

Lower block 03 is the pink chunk in the very middle of the hull (colour denotes which shipyard is building which section).

She's finally taking shape! :)

I captured this photo of the block from work today (a hospital, you can see the Victorian facade of the admin building) to try and imagine the scale of the finished carrier, it was taken from 1 mile away. Please excuse my hilariously childlike and inaccurate drawing!

Also, please excuse the awful quality as it was taken on my mobile!

Got some decent quality snaps of the lower-middile hull block from work at the weekend, plan to get within 100m of it midweek.

They'll get me soon, I'm going to see the block close up today with my naval architect/marine engineering friend (it's near a pub I want to visit). :)

Sorry for the bombardment of photos! I contribute to a couple of threads about the Queen Elizabeth class construction programme on some other forums, it spills over! :p

Indeed, though I'm pretty sure we won't see them come to light.... Afterall everyone in Britain knows we don't need Aircraft carriers. Or a strong Navy... What we really need is fast jets that have to use AAR to get anywhere and a benefit system to support people who believe they should be paid for doing nothing...

EDIT:
That was sarcasm by the way... Just in case anyone misses it :)
