Hello Im a bit confused on how to get out of the succession problem im stuck in, hoping someone can clarify for me.

So...I initially married a female duke who was a vassal to the HRE and had a child with her. To my surprise she died, ending up a grand duke before doing so, matching me in rank as a king. I didnt notice until now, but our son is now vassal to the HRE. As I understand it, its because he inherited the title of King(grand duke) from his mothers side, BEFORE inherting it from me. Since he is my equal in rank to me, and lower than Emperor he became independent of me. Now, he has a brother and a sister so I tested what would happen if I abdicated and sure enough the HRE owns the lands I held as king(Kingdom of Galacia and Leon). If I continue I would essentially play as a child who is a king but the emperor would be my liege. What I want to do is remain independent and raise a suitable successor by educating them, and bethroing them myself, which i cannot do if my child is independent(Maybe educate, not sure?) so how would I get out of this situation?

Also to stop future titles from floating outside the realm I would need to change the law but that requires medium authority which I dont have, so thats over a decade of waiting and isnt very feasible for me. Im lost, please help

You're pretty much out of luck in this situation. Sadly that's the danger with trying to snipe foreign titles in that manner, if inheritance goes in the incorrect order you'll end up becoming a vassal.

Ahhh I see next time Ill take into consideration the rank of the spouse. If she wasnt a ruler she would have been in my court and everything would be fine...maybe being a vassal isnt so bad? Though starting an independence faction against the HRE seems pretty scary though.

The HRE tends to be a quagmire of infighting, the chance will pretty much be guaranteed to appear that you can safely revolt. Or make use of the situation, start eating the HRE from the inside then revolt much later.
