Hey guys,

this is my first post so I hope you are not too hard to me ;).

I have seen and read a lot of tutorials about importing models into the AE which are exported from Blender as fbx.

My problem is, that as soon as I try to select my model as template, it only shows the before selected standard template and the continue button gets deactivated.

My workflow:
- Create model (even tried with a blender start file)
- Set the cursor to center or selected
- Set origin to 3D cursor
- activate rotation
- click export to fbx
- - set scale to 800
- - activate "selected Objects"
- - activate "Apply Transform"
- - check if Z forward is "-Z Forward"
- - check if Y is "y Up"
- - Export

- Copy files to the import folder
- check that my uv texture has the right name (fbxfilename_d)

- start game and test

In all the videos and tutorials this workflow is successfull. Did I miss any changes? Would be really nice if someone could help me to export my buildings correctly :)

Thanks and greetings

Crazy stuff. Please excuse my double post but I recently found my failure I guess. I might leave it here for some other people searching the web ;).

When exporting the fbx, you have to deactivate Baked Animation and Batch own dir. After I did this, my model has been loaded.

But my texture seems to get a little bit messed up with the colors. Maybe I should read some more stuff about texturing ;).

Great that you found a solution. I usually set the scale in the blender scene properties->display to 8 and then to 100 in export settings. It makes the grid size same as in game.

Yes I have tried this, too. But at least I did not have the chance to test arround with these things because I did not even manage to get a AE preview of my models. But I will test this again in a few moments. Thank you.

I think I have forgotten where these settings are made. Would you please tell me? =)

It's the right panel of the 3d-views (keyboard N) -> Display dropdown. Also check that your scale in the scene tab is 1 and double check that the model scale is applied and set to 1. If you have multiple objects in the scene, remember to join them and re-set the origin and scale.
