From a recent post in the Courtiers and Cannonballs' thread it appears Ryoken is trying to get a EU MP game started.

I would like to know Paradox' view upon interaction with banned members. I.e. besides the clear rule that threads of games where Byng participates will be removed from the forum.

Is it e.g.

A) entirely OK
B) impolite towards Paradox
C) unfriendly towards Paradox
D) punishable

to participate

a) via vnet
b) via IP

in a game where Ryoken - or say Byng - takes part?

feel free to play with banned people except Byng.

As long as you don't help them to get around a ban by either helping them reregister or giving them access through your account.

This might change, however, as it always a judged on a case to case basis, but you don't have to worry about your posting abilities regarding playing with Ryoken for the time being.

Thanks KB for your answer.

To the best of my knowledge there exists no explicit statement saying you should not play (I take for granted we are talking vnet + IP only) with Byng. If such a rule does exist it really needs to be published somehow. As it is now players may take part in a game with him without understanding that there is a non-published rule saying they should not.

Also I would suggest that such a rule would be formulated as a recommendation rather than a prohibition.

Im sure i was told that i was allowd to play with byng as long as he didnt post on the forum. This might have been before the spamming incident however. As it happens i hadnt seen him until last night when he turned up unexpected in vnet. Im sure one of you mods told me that this was not against the rules. It doesnt state in the sticky either anything about byng in vnet. Im just asking out of curiosity btw. Not disputing anything. Also, can you really justify banning anyone playing via ip? Vnet i can understand.

Ryoken has given up the game for lack of interest already last week.
I seem to be the only one who still wants to see it started.

To be clear any posting about or reference to a game where Byng is a participant liables the poster to be permanently banned, Johan is VERY serious about this issue.

BiB's post in that thread is more to the point of the issue.
My personal advice is to stay clear, if there is trouble there is often collateral dammage.

These statements contradict each other. Is it legal to play in a game with byng, by ip, if the game is not mentioned in the forum?

Byng, that guy came into one a game of mine and did something I've never seen. We gave him more than two chances and in the end I think we personally banned him for life. That doesn't change them changing names and signing on under a new account and screwing up a game in V.Net.. Luckily it hasn't happened again since last year. Sad thing is V.Net is used by many members as a lobby and you can create any name you like... Good thing is we usually only pick 'regular' Vnetters for MP Play. You can ask most OldTimers for a Listing... I would suggest not letting Byng play in any game you play in...

HoG has quit a game or two I've participated in, although in a apologetic fashion and usually can't ever last the 'longhaul'. Ryoken got severely maulled in his last game, perhaps why he was banned he had an outburst but he's back in business now and doing well.. Remeber our games now adays are tough and hurt a lot inside when a player steals your Throne.. Ryo lost it all as Austria and well, totally collasped himself, it happens I did it in my first Official Paradox Forum Game.<but his was a temper tantrum :p >

LE has come a long way, I've seen her develop and if you leave the personal insults out she's more steady than the above... Some people are just plain mean to her, not neccessary. She'll get good, she plays a lot...just that awful Aussie timezone...

JTU is vastly improving and rarely drops, a new kid on the block...! :)

I'm getting tired of EU2 personally, I don't think I'll play many more games. I'm going to start to phaze them out, it's about time Johann got in gear and released EU3 and stopped all these new crappy projects..

CK sucks, I bought and I fell asleep trying to learn how to conquor a Kingdom. HOI was worthless I bought it and you cannot get into any groove. Victoria had merit but it soon lost it's value. HOI2 has some promising looking features HOI1 didn't have but to be quite frank we all know what Paradox needs ;) They need the good old Formula of success. I own part of a software Company that's been selling Military Forms to the US Goverment for 10 years..

Stick to what works... That's Europa Universalis! ;) It's time for 3

Come on even Ages of Empires is releasing edition 3

as far as banning, bahhh... boring to ban, play more EU and get rid of moderation except Cursing

I am no longer banned, so this is irrelevant in applying to me (though not to other future banned players, I suppose). Konrad bumped that thread without prompting from me, as he said in his posting. The game was started before I was banned, but I decided to let it die due to lack of interest. Konrad really wanted to play, so he resurrected it; not me. :D Cheers!

or benin or some other african nation

In my experience, he prefers a pagan nation with easy access to gold - like Aztecs, Incas, Zimbabwe, Benin, etc...

Kind of crazy combination since besides the harsh penalties on tech it also gives you inflation.

Last game I played the Incas in SP I followed an advice by Tonioz (IIRC) and that was to let gold provinces be covered by rebs to eliminate inflation. That game was by far my best effort as the Incas.
